Hoosiers Hold Serve At Home Over Huskies
September 27, 2025 | Volleyball
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Washington Volleyball dropped its third-straight match on the road in straight sets today to Indiana at Wilkinson Hall. As was the case in the past two matches, UW was close in all three sets, but couldn't get over the hump, falling 26-24, 25-22, 25-23 in front of 1,773 fans.
Stats were very even overall, with UW hitting .190 as a team and Indiana .196, but that's the story right now as UW has lost three in a row with seven of those nine sets decided by three points or fewer. One set in each of the past three losses has gone to extra points, but the Dawgs have lost all three of those.
Washington falls to 5-7 on the season and 0-2 in Big Ten play while Indiana improved to 11-1 and 2-0 in league play.
Indiana had 40 blocks to the 36 of UW, and the Hoosiers had one more ace (4-3) and two more blocks (9.0 to 7.0). Digs were more heavily in the home team's favor, 42 to 32, and UW hurt itself again with 13 service errors, while Indiana missed eight.
Kierstyn Barton had 12 kills to pace the attack, and Simona Mateska and Alexa Markley each had nine kills. Julia Hunt had four kills and led the blocking effort with five, along with a pair of aces. Alexis Haury had 23 assists and a team-leading 10 digs for a double-double, while senior Taylor Simpson also came in during the third set and had seven assists and one ace.
Up Next: Washington comes home for just the second time out of the season's first six weeks. The Huskies will look to right the ship at Alaska Airlines Arena next Friday, Oct. 3, against Ohio State, and then one day later, UW hosts Iowa on Saturday, Oct. 4.
