Huskies Run Rampant, Score Seven To Secure Fewing Cup
September 08, 2025 | Men's Soccer
With the victory, the Huskies improve to 2-2-2 on the season and extend their unbeaten streak to four straight games.
The Redhawks jumped in front first, scoring the first two goals of the match on their first two shots.
In the 37th minute, the Huskies scored the first of seven straight unanswered goals.
Connor Lofy began the comeback, heading home a perfect free kick cross from Alex Hall. Over the next eight minutes before halftime, Washington throttled Seattle U, finding the back of the net three more times to take a commanding 4-2 lead into the break.
Harrison Bertos scored the equalizer, poking home a goal in the 43rd minute. Just 16 seconds later, Richie Aman found a streaking Zach Ramsey in the box who fired home the third goal, putting the Dawgs in front 3-2.
Just two minutes later, and with 31 seconds remaining in the first half, Chad Sovde joined the party, scoring his first career goal to widen the advantage to two.
The Huskies didn't slow down in the second half. Egor Akulov scored Washington's fifth goal of the game, sending a towering header into the net from a Richie Aman corner kick.
Aman tallied two assists on the night.
The sixth goal came from Charlie Kosakoff, who poked home a free kick from Zach Ramsey.
And in the 82nd minute, Clarens Dollin capped off the night with the seventh. Dollin controlled a poor outlet pass from the Redhawks and took the ball on his own past two defenders.
With a narrow angle, he chipped the goalkeeper to send the ball home and record his first career goal.
The Dawgs tallied five assists, 20 shots, 12 of which were on goal and eight corners on the night. 12 Huskies featured as substitutes in the game, including Jaeger Felton and Asher Hestad, who both made their first appearance for Washington.
The Huskies will look to keep the momentum going on Friday as they open the Big Ten slate against Michigan State at Husky Soccer Stadium. The bout with the Spartans will also be the first of three straight games at home for Washington, with matches against Gonzaga and Michigan to follow.
