
Huskies Back Home To Host Utah, San Diego

SEATTLE – No. 17 Washington women's tennis begins a six-match stretch at home on Friday afternoon against No. 33 Utah and Sunday against No. 30 San Diego.
Friday's match is set to start at 2 p.m. PT while Sunday's is at noon at the Nordstrom Tennis Center. Utah and San Diego will also play a neutral match on Saturday at 1 p.m. PT. A live stream can be found on GoHuskies.com and live scoring on HuskyStats.com for all matches.
The Huskies enter the weekend with a 5-0 record.
DAWGS GETTING IT DONE ON ALL COURTS
Through the first five matches, Washington is a combined 30-7 across all courts in singles and doubles. UW is unbeaten in matches on Courts 1, 2 and 4 in singles action.
HUSKIES IN THE ITA RANKINGS
In the ITA individual rankings, the Dawgs have a season-high four singles ranked. Reece Carter leads the way coming in at No. 65 with a 4-0 overall record at No. 2 singles. Erika Matsuda is No. 72 at 4-1 on the season at the No. 1 singles spot. Marie Weissheim is No. 90 with a 3-0 dual record while Jermine Sherif rounds out the rankings at No. 124 with a 5-0 record and was named the Big Ten Player of the Week on Feb. 11. Matsuda and Carina Syrtveit are No. 81 in the doubles ranking.
HOME SWEET HOME
Under head coach Robin Stephenson, the Huskies are 105-29 in Seattle since 2015. The Huskies have posted double-digit home wins in four of the last five season, combining for 51 victories over that time.
LAST TIME OUT
Washington last competed on Feb. 8 against Baylor and came away with their first shutout win of the season to improve to 5-0. The Huskies also faced Rice on their trip to Texas and came away with a 4-1 victory against the Owls.
SCOUTING THE UTES
Utah is ranked No. 33 in the latest ITA team ranking after starting the season 6-1. The Utes are coming off a 2-0 weekend with wins against Washington State and Denver. Emma Kamper is the lone Ute in the ITA singles ranking, coming in at No. 81.
WASHINGTON VS. UTAH HISTORY
The Huskies lead the overall series record against the Utes, 16-9. Washington and Utah last met on March 17, 2024 with the Huskies coming away with a 5-2 victory.
SCOUTING THE TOREROS
San Diego is ranked No. 30 in this week's ITA team ranking after a 4-4 start to the spring season. The Toreros have had a tough schedule to begin with matches against four ranked opponents in No. 5 LSU, No. 2 Texas A&M and No. 19 UCLA. Hannah Read is No.112 in the singles rankings with a 3-4 record where she has seen time on Courts 1 and 2.
WASHINGTON VS. SAN DIEGO HISTORY
San Diego leads the all-time series against the Huskies, 16-13. Washington has defeated San Diego in their last three meetings and five of the last six. The last time the two teams faced was last season in San Diego with UW winning a close contest, 4-3.
