No. 12 Huskies Win Rivalry Match Over WSU

SEATTLE – No. 12 Washington women's tennis picked up its eighth win of the season in a 7-0 victory over Washington State on Friday afternoon at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.
The Huskies opened the match with three 6-1 doubles wins to win their eighth doubles point of the season. Washington is 17-2 across doubles courts.
Alexia Jacobs made quick work of singles going 6-0, 6-1 to put the second Husky point on the board.
No. 124 Jermine Sherif was the second Dawg to finish, getting the win in straight sets. Sherif won her first set 6-1 and followed it with a 6-3 victory in set two.
No. 90 Marie Weissheim had her third match-clincher in the last four with her straight set win on Court 5. Weissheim won 6-0 and battled to a 6-4 victory in the second set. She is 7-0 in singles this season.
Carina Syrtveit won her fourth match in the last five to put the fifth point up on the No. 6 court. She went 6-2, 6-3 in her sets.
After dropping her first set, 3-6, No. 65 Reece Carter bounced back to win her match in three sets going 6-1, 6-0 to close it out. Carter is 7-0 in singles thus far at the No. 2 spot.
No. 72 Erika Matsuda closed out the sweep with back-to-back tiebreak sets going 7-6(4), 7-6(7).
