Huskies Wrap Up The Desimone Invitational With 15th-Place Finish
March 10, 2026 | Men's Golf
DALY CITY, Calif. – Washington men's golf finished in 15th at The Desimone Invitational at 13-over (877).
"Another disappointing day to be honest," head coach Alan Murray said. "Similar to yesterday in that we made too many bogeys from good positions and didn't make any putts when we gave ourselves a chance. Our best individual finisher was in 38th place and when that happens you are in trouble, especially in a good field."
Jake Foley led the team with a 38-place finish at 1-over. Grady Millar added a Top 50 placement with his 3-over tournament.
"The guys will be frustrated with their performance and as coaches we also have to look at ourselves and figure out what we need to do better also," Murray added. "It's a team effort and we all need to improve."
Jack Murphy had a 2-over (74) to finish at 4-over for the tournament and in a tie for 56th. Finn Koelle joined Foley with shooting a final round 75 (+3) for a 6-over tournament.
"We didn't have anyone play well to paper over any cracks and we were really exposed this week." Murray said. "We have a little time now before The Goodwin and I think there are some obvious areas that need work. We need to be better prepared to handle the demands of competition and do a better job of understanding what is acceptable when conditions get a little tricky."
Jacob Goode bounced back from a tough second round to shoot 2-over (74) in the final round.
"Our next tournament will be an opportunity to remind ourselves that we are a good team and that this was a one off," Murray concluded. "It was really cool to see Husky alum Noah Woolsey out there cheering for the boys today and he hopefully served as an inspiration to them moving forward."
Washington will be back in action on March 26-28 at The Goodwin, hosted by Stanford at Stanford Golf Course.
