
UW Women To Open 2026 Season At San Diego Crew Classic

The Washington women's rowing team heads south to the San Diego Crew Classic this Saturday and Sunday, March 28-29.
Washington, ranked No. 5 in the most recent Pocock CRCA poll, will send a total of seven crews to race on Mission Bay. UW will compete in the first and second varsity eights, and open eights (where UW will have two entries), as well as the varsity fours and "B" fours (two entries). Here is the full schedule of events:

Varsity 4+: Karen Plumleigh Cortney Cup

Second Varsity 8+: Jackie Ann Stitt Hungness Trophy

The field for this year's Crew Classic includes two other teams currently ranked in the top-10: No. 3 Texas and No. 10 California.
Last year, UW made the podium in all six collegiate races it entered. The Huskies won the Karen Plumleigh Cortney Cup (varsity 4+) and took the top-two spots in the Collegiate B 4+ race. The Huskies also finished second in all four of its eights races.
Following this weekend, the UW women will have a week off to prepare for The Dual vs. California on April 4, at Redwood Shores, Calif.
