
Kenney Tosses Gem As Huskies Defeat Northwestern 7-2

SEATTLE – Noah Kenney had a career day on Friday, leading the Huskies to a 7-2 series-opening win over Northwestern at Husky Ballpark.
Washington improves to 10-14 on the year and 5-5 in Big Ten play with the win.
Northwestern jumped in front early with a leadoff home run in the first inning, but Noah Kenney quickly settled in to prevent further damage. The junior right hander allowed just three hits in his career-high seven frames.
Washington responded to early deficit immediately, answering with three runs in the bottom half of the first. Daniel Porras used an RBI single to bring home Braeden Terry to begin the scoring.
An RBI single from Sam DeCarlo then brought home Colton Bower before Daniel Porras stole home on a double steal.
The Huskies went on to plate three more runs in the third to bring the lead up to five. Blake Wilson drove in two runs with a triple to deep right center, scoring DeCarlo and Ty Cowan.
Washington recorded one more run in the sixth on an RBI single from Ty Cowan to close out the scoring.
Noah Kenney did his part, allowing just two hits after giving up the leadoff home run. He finished his day with nine strikeouts, a career-high mark.
Carson Boesel took the mound in the eighth inning to close out the game. He struck out two batters in his two frames of work while allowing four hits and one run.
Daniel Porras led all batters on Friday with three hits, including a double and one RBI. Colton Bower and Blake Wilson both chipped in two-hit games as well, helping the Huskies to their 11 total knocks on the day.
The Huskies will look to take the series with a win on Saturday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Husky Ballpark.
