Huskies Dominate Pilots In 8-1 Win

RIDGEFIELD, Wash. - The Huskies completely handled Portland on Tuesday to earn a wire-to-wire 8-1 neutral site victory in Ridgefield.
Washington improves to 18-22 with the win.
The Huskies were dominant throughout the game, stifling the Pilots' offense while connecting for 15 hits of their own.
Jack Wade made his first start in the purple and gold and was clinical on the mound, tossing 3.1 innings while striking out eight batters, both career-high marks.
The offense got started early for the Huskies. In the second inning, Aidan Dougherty and Ethan Swidler used a pair of RBI singles to put the Huskies up 2-0. Then, Hotchkiss stepped up the plate.
The sophomore belted his 13th home run of the season, a 402-foot three-run blast to deep center. It would be one of three hits on the day for the left fielder who added a single and a triple to finish just a double short of the cycle.
Hotchkiss's triple is also the Huskies 15th of the year.
Washington jumped to a 5-0 lead and didn't look back, leading the rest of the contest.
Carson Boesel, Tyler Walker, and Liam Lierman all pitched in relief, helping the Huskies to nine full innings of just two-hit and one-run ball.
Washington also tied a season-high 17 strikeouts, while surrendering just four free bases on two walks and two hit batters.
Blake Wilson joined Hotchkiss in the team lead for hits on the night with three. Wilson also chipped in four stolen bases, doubling his season total.
Sam DeCarlo, Aidan Dougherty, and Ethan Swidler all had two hit nights, helping the Huskies to 15 total knocks.
Washington returns to Big Ten play on Friday at Michigan. The Huskies will play three games in Ann Arbor before facing Eastern Michigan to conclude the road swing.
