April 22, 2026 | Women's Tennis
SEATTLE – Washington women's tennis seniors Reece Carter and Erika Matsuda have earned All-Big Ten honors, the conference office announced Tuesday morning.
Carter was named a first team selection. Matsuda garners second team honor and named to the sportsmanship team.
This season, Carter has earned player of the week honors twice – most recently this week following a victory over the fourth-ranked singles player from Ohio State. Carter holds a dual record of 17-1 in singles and 14-4 in doubles alongside partner Jermine Sherif. The senior from Canada has been named a first team all-conference selection all four years of her career between her time at UW and Arizona.
Matsuda adds her fourth all-conference recognition to her historic Washington career. At the No. 1 singles spot, Matsuda holds a 7-4 dual record this season and is 13-6 in doubles with partners Carina Syrtveit and Karolina Kozakova.
Both Carter and Matsuda represented Washington earlier this season at the NCAA Individual Championships in the fall. Matsuda became the 11th Husky to earn a spot in singles and doubles in the same season. Carter and Matsuda advanced to the Round of 32 in singles while Matsuda also made the Round of 32 in doubles.
No. 23 Washington returns to the court for the first round of the Big Ten Tournament on Thursday, April 23 against 12-seed Penn State. The match will begin at 8:30 a.m. PT and will be streamed on B1G+.
