Dawgs Fall In 11 Innings To Saint Mary’s

PALO ALTO, Calif. – The No. 14 softball team (31-8, 12-0 Big Ten) fell to Saint Mary's in extra innings on Friday, dropping their second game on the week to the Gaels 2-3 in 11 innings at Stanford Softball Stadium.
Morgan Reimer dished out 10 strikeouts in the complete game, her third career game with double digit strikeouts and first of the season.
Giselle Alvarez did it all for Washington on Friday, recording her 13th home run of the season along with an RBI double.
Saint Mary's got on the board first with a two-run homer in the top of the first. Alvarez's home run came in the fourth inning to cut the Gaels' lead to one.
Alvarez delivered again with a double to left center to tie the game. It took 11 innings of back-and-forth before another Gael home run in the top of the 11th secured SMC the upset.
Washington will play the final game of the tournament on Saturday, a Pac-12 foe rematch with No. 24 Stanford. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Stanford Softball Stadium.
