
Huskies Drop Battle To Trojans

LOS ANGELES – No. 21 Washington women's tennis dropped a battle with No. 12 USC, 4-1, on Friday afternoon at Marks Tennis Stadium.
The Huskies move to 15-2 overall and 6-2 in Big Ten action.
In doubles action, Alexia Jacobs and Marie Weissheim continued their winning ways with a 6-3 win on Court 2. The duo is 12-0 on the season. USC claimed the doubles point with wins on Courts 1 and 3.
Seventieth-ranked Reece Carter picked up her 15th singles win to remain undefeated on the season at the No. 2 spot. Carter won her match in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1, to put the point on the board for Washington.
The Trojans picked up points on Courts 1 and 4, but the Huskies did not back down from the fight going into the final three courts down, 3-1.
Jacobs lost the first set to the 123rd-ranked player, but bounced back to win set two, 6-4. Heading to a third set, Jacobs was down 4-2 early. She fought her way back to tie the set at 5-5. USC, however, went on to win the set 7-5 and clinch the match.
Washington will be back on the courts on Sunday at No. 18 UCLA. The match is scheduled to begin at noon at the Los Angeles Tennis Center.
