
Huskies Fall In Series Finale To Valparaiso

SEATTLE – Washington dropped the final game against Valparaiso 4-2 on Saturday at Husky Ballpark. Despite the loss, the Huskies still claimed the series win thanks to their victories on Thursday and Friday.
The Huskies move to 15-16 with the result.
The Huskies tuned in another strong performance from their pitchers, with Hayden Lewis doing the bulk of the work on Saturday. He made his sixth start of the season and allowed just three hits and two runs through six of his 6.2 innings pitched.
In the seventh, Lewis surrendered three more hits and two runs before turning over the ball to Carson Boesel. Lewis finished his day with 6.2 innings pitched, six hits, four runs, two walks, and six strikeouts.
Boesel closed out the game, allowing two hits and striking out three in 2.1 scoreless innings.
Offensively, the Huskies had six hits, three walks, and used two errors from the Beacons to record 11 total base runners, but the Dawgs couldn't find the decisive hit. In total, Washington left 10 runners on base.
Ethan Swidler led all hitters with two knocks, including a double. Sam DeCarlo also added a double and scored one of the Huskies two runs.
Washington will look to bounce back on Monday and Tuesday against Gonzaga. The Huskies will host the Zags for two games at Husky Ballpark, with first pitch scheduled for 5 p.m. on Monday evening and 12 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon.
