April 05, 2026 | Track & Field
SEATTLE – Senior Jimmy Rhoads won the Texas Relays pole vault title in Austin, Texas today with another School Record, while most of the Husky squad finished up action at the Stanford Invitational.
Texas Relays
Rhoads, who set the UW indoor pole vault record at 19-1, today in his outdoor season opener cleared 18-10 1/4 to break the mark Scott Toney set last season at 18-9 1/2. Coming off his third-place finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships, Rhoads is now ranked No. 2 in the NCAA outdoors.
Also in Texas were Veronica Vacca and Sara Borton, but both failed to clear the opening bar as the women's competition was impacted by a long weather delay and winds continued to make things challenging when it resumed.
Stanford Invite
Action at Stanford started with the 800-meters, with several Huskies doubling back from racing on Friday. Chloe Foerster took third in the top heat of the women's 800m with a fast time of 2:01.76. Jenica Swartz ran 2:03.13 which moves her into the Husky outdoor top-10 list at No. 7.
On the men's side, Martin Barco took second overall in the top heat of the men's 800-meters in a time of 1:49.00.
Sofia Cosculluela capped a busy and impressive weekend with a victory in the finals of the women's 100-meter hurdles today. Cosculluela ran a new lifetime-best, by .01 seconds, going 13.41, which improves her No. 4 time in school history.
Jonathan Frazier was fourth in the men's 110m hurdles final in 14.39 seconds, into a headwind.
UW's triple jump crew fared well today. The men got a 1-2 finish in the collegiate section from Trevontay Smith and Roman Hutchinson. Smith went a season's-best 50-10 for first and Hutchinson also had a season's-best of 49-6 1/2. Tim Luebbert was fourth at 46-5 1/2.
The women got a win from Ava Washburn in the collegiate section as she went 39-7 3/4. Freshman Addy Kelly was third at 39-5, a season-best for her.
The women's discus saw Chiche Okemgbo get a PR of 142-2 and Yvonne Colson threw 136-6.
Wrapping things up was the women's 4x400m relay, with Rhonday Newton, Chloe Symon, Sena Pittman, and Anna Terrell going 3:44.52 for 10th overall.
