Three Huskies Homer, Dawgs Even Series With 8-2 Win Over Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 25 softball team (35-16, 16-7 Big Ten) evened the series on Saturday afternoon after defeating Ohio State 8-2 at Buckeye Field.

Sophia Ramuno threw a complete game while improving to 10-4 on the season, giving up just four hits and just one earned run along with 11 strikeouts.

Three Huskies went yard on Saturday, beginning with Alexis DeBoer who recorded her second bomb of the series on a solo shot in the top of the third.

An inning later, Marley Teasley reached first on a Buckeye fielding error, allowing Ally Hetzel to score and bring the UW lead to two runs.

Ohio State halved the Washington lead with an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth.

In the top of the sixth, Ava Carroll, who went 2-for-4 on the day, hit a double to centerfield. Melody Acevedo, who registered a hit, a walk, an RBI and a run, singled to bring home Carroll.

One batter later, Sophi Mazzola was hit by a pitch and advanced to second on a wild pitch before Teasley came up to bat.

Teasley blew the game wide open with her first career home run, a three-RBI homer that ballooned Washington's lead to five runs.

DeBoer opened the seventh inning with a double and was replaced by Mila Reddy to pinch run. Jadyn Glab then smashed her 10^th home run of the season to left center field.

A Buckeye homered in the bottom of the seventh to put another Ohio State run on the board but that would be all as Washington evened the series with the 8-2 victory.

The rubber match will begin at 10 a.m. PT on Sunday, May 3 at Buckeye Field and will be available to stream on Big Ten Plus.
