Six Huskies Earn All-Conference Postseason Awards
May 08, 2026 | Softball
SEATTLE – The Big Ten Conference announced on Friday that six Huskies earned all-conference postseason honors, led by a pair of Dawgs on the All-Big Ten First Team.
Alexis DeBoer and Giselle Alvarez were each tabbed with First Team honors and Morgan Reimer was selected to the conference's Second Team.
DeBoer, who was the Big Ten Freshman of the Year a season ago, was also named to the league's all-defensive team in addition to First Team for her efforts at first base.
Melody Acevedo and Kaycie Burdick were tabbed to the All-Freshman Team in their first season as Huskies, and Tia Durst rounded out the all-league honors as Washington's Sportsmanship Honoree.
Burdick, Alvarez, DeBoer and Acevedo were each offensive threats in their own ways for Washington this season, as the quad ranked top four in batting average.
Burdick led UW with a .375 batting average during her freshman campaign, to go along with a perfect fielding percentage in both center and right field. The freshman started in 48 of the 52 games she played, notching 57 hits, including seven doubles, a triple, a home run and a grand slam, while also registering 30 RBI and 20 walks on the season.
The Pleasanton, Calif. native was named the B1G Freshman of the Week on March 30.
Alvarez was second on the team with a .374 average, leading the team in hits (68) and RBI (53), while slugging .692 with a career-high 15 home runs.
Alvarez was named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team two seasons ago while leading the team with a .343 batting average and was named All-Academic Big Ten in 2025.
DeBoer added to her postseason resume with All-Conference First Team and All-Defensive Team honors, leading the team with 18 home runs and a team-high .731 slugging percentage. The sophomore led the Huskies with 36 walks, which was seventh most in the Big Ten.
At the beginning of 2026, DeBoer was selected to USA Softball's Player of the Year Top 50 Watch List. She was also tabbed a D1 Softball and Softball America Preseason All-American Second Teamer and was most recently ranked the No. 10 first baseman in Softball America's May position rankings.
Reimer has been a dominant presence in the circle all year long for Washington, solidifying a 2.75 ERA with a 23-7 record, the second most wins by a pitcher in the Big Ten.
She was named D1 Softball's National Pitcher of the Week on March 24 and started her sophomore stint as a 2026 Big Ten Player to Watch.
After missing the first few weeks of her freshman campaign, Acevedo earned her starting spot at the shortstop position and immediately made an impact.
The Riverside, Calif. native was named to Softball America's Big Ten Preseason Freshman Watch List as well as D1 Softball's Preseason Freshman Watch List at the beginning of 2026.
Acevedo started in 43 of 44 games played, marking a .353 batting average with 41 hits and 23 RBI.
