Washington Makes Season Debut At Chambers Bay

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – The Washington women's golf team officially teed off the 2026-27 season Monday, opening at Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place, Wash. The Huskies sit at 10th with a score of +17 through 36 holes.
"We got off to a solid start today," said head coach Anna Temple. "We've focused a lot on their commitment to their shots and we need to continue to keep that execution up. Mads, Hannah, and Amber got the team off to a good start in round one and Wendy put together a solid round in the second. Tomorrow will be an exciting day and we have some good things we can capitalize on in our play in the final round."
Fourth year Mads Smith led the way for the Husky lineup in round one. She rolled in seven birdies against five bogeys to card a two-under-par, the low round of the day for Washington. A four-over in the afternoon settled her in at two-over with a total score of 146 for the day, tied for 18th.
Amber Li followed Smith on the Washington leaderboard. She posted a two-over-par after a one-over to sit tied for 21st at three-over with a score of 147 through two rounds.
Wendy Tang saved her best for the back nine, bouncing back from a five-over in the morning with an even-par 72 in the afternoon, the low round for the Huskies in round two. She's tied for 37th at five-over.
Hannah Ounap made her Husky debut in the first round, turning in an even-par before a 79 in the second pushed her to seven-over. She finished the day tied for 53rd at the end of both rounds.
Athena Ni rounded out the lineup with back-to-back rounds of 80, sitting at +16 through 36 holes.
Washington will play one final round at Chambers Bay on Tuesday with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. The Husky lineup will kickstart the day on holes 1-3B.
