CHICAGO, Ill. – Competing with a completely different lineup from just one week ago, the 13th-ranked Husky men's cross country team got to show off its depth with a look at nine men making their season debuts at the Loyola Lakefront Invitational. Five of those nine ran their first cross country races as Huskies today, with a pair of collegiate debuts as well.

Running on the Sydney R. Marovitz Golf Course in Chicago, the Huskies finished 11th overall with 257 points out of a quality 17-team field. UW moved up well throughout the race, as they went out conservatively with 330 points at the 1k split, then down to 291 at the 5k split. At the 7k split, the Huskies had taken off another 20 points to 271, and then closed to a final score of 257 at the end of the 8,000-meter race.

A pair of transfers led the Huskies in their UW debuts. Jonathan Podbielski, from the University of Regina in Canada, placed 21st overall in a time of 23-minutes, 17-seconds for Top Dawg honors. Former Stanford runner Zane Bergen was 42nd in 23:31. Then it was first-year Cohen Butler, the 2025 Washington 4A state cross country champion, who was 51st in a time of 23:35.

Fourth-year Cruize Corvin was 64th overall as the No. 4 finisher in 23:42, then second-year Owen Powell capped the scoring in 85th-place in 23:51. Rounding out the Husky finishers, James Crabtree was 91st, Thom Diamond finished 104th, first-year Amin Fidaar was 110th in his NCAA debut, and Will Schneider was 140th.
