2000 (Junior): All-Pac-10 First Team honoree … starter in all 20 games and scored six goals … among team leaders in shots with 40 … scored the Huskies’ only goal in NCAA second round game versus Indiana … tallied two assists and put a header in the net with 19 seconds remaining in regulation to lift the seventh-ranked Huskies to a 3-2 come-from-behind victory at No. 5 UCLA … also assisted on UW’s first goal of the game early in the second half … assist in 3-0 shutout of Oregon State … scored only UW goal in loss at Portland … free kick found the net in shut out of Gonzaga … assisted on a goal in UW’s upset of sixth-ranked Fullerton to claim Husky Classic title … tallied a pair of goals in UW’s first victory of the season, a 3-0 win over San Diego State … for the second year in a row led the team in assists with eight ... played on the state’s U-23 team that was undefeated and won the West Region Sports Festival title ... from there, was selected to the National Team that competed in the US Amateur Sports Festival. 1999 (Sophomore): Took most of the Huskies' penalty and corners in 1999 ... sent two penalties to the back of the net, including the game-winner in a 2-1 overtime victory over Fresno State ... that goal was the first of his UW career ... second only to forward Kai Carroll in scoring with 16 points, on four goals and eight assists ... assist total was more than double that of any other Husky, and tied for first in the MPSF Mountain Division ... all four goals were game-winners ... three assists came on game-winners, meaning Somoza had a hand in seven of UW's 15 game-winning goals ... scored at least one point in 12 of the 18 games in which UW scored ... tallied a goal or assist in four straight from Sept. 26 to Oct. 15 ... one of four Huskies to play in all 22 games.
1998 (Freshman): Saw time in seven games, taking two shots...both shots came in his first career appearance, a 3-0 win over George Mason...appeared in four straight games in midseason against Portland, UC Santa Barbara, Cal Poly SLO and Stanford.

Prepped at Edmonds-Woodway under Tony Gilman...played midfield his first three years before moving to forward as a senior...was a three-time first-team all-WesCo selection after earning second-team honors as a freshman...scored 11 goals and 12 assists his final year, leading the team in both categories...holds the Edmonds-Woodway career record for assists...named the Seattle Times' North End Male Athlete of the Year and Everett Herald's Soccer Player of the Year in 1998...also lettered three seasons in basketball, helping his team advance to the state tournament as the leading defensive player and starting point guard.
