2024 Cross Country: Helped the Huskies return to the NCAA Championships, running in the top-seven four times including at all three postseason meets … earned All-Big Ten Second Team honors with a 14th-place finish at the Big Ten meet, finishing in 23:05 as the No. 3 Husky scorer as UW placed second … earned All-West Region honors with a 22nd-place finish, fifth on the squad, as UW won the team title for the first time since 2015 ... was the No. 7 finisher on the team at NCAAs in 236th-place overall ... the seventh Husky finisher at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invite in 134th-place overall … named to the Fall Academic All-Big Ten Team.
2024 Track: Set PRs at every distance and helped the Huskies win the Pac-12 team title with a fifth-place finish in the 10,000-meters, running 29:47.83 at elevation which converted down to a 28:46.43 which is No. 9 in school history … qualified for NCAA Prelims in the 10k but did not finish … raced to a 5,000-meters PR of 13:49.19 at the Payton Jordan Invite … indoors, won his 5k heat at the Husky Classic with an indoor PR of 13:50.01 … won his heat of the mile at the UW Invitational in a PR of 4:05.16 … also set a 3,000-meters PR at the UW Invitational, going 7:55.29 for seventh-place … named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team as well as the Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll.
2023 Cross Country: Earned All-West Region honors in his first official fall season, placing 21st at the West Regional Championships in 20:41 for 10k, which was third among Huskies … at his first Pac-12 Championships, was 21st overall and sixth on the squad in 23:32 as UW placed second overall … the No. 4 Husky scorer at the Wisconsin Invitational, finishing 159th overall … first official race in uniform was Virginia Invitational where he was 192nd overall and sixth on the squad … earned a spot on the Pac-12 Fall Academic Honor Roll … named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team.
2023 Track: Redshirted the season, racing unattached indoors and outdoors … indoors, won his first race, taking his heat of the 5k at the Husky Classic in 14:08.91 … outdoors, ran an unattached 10,000-meters at the OSU High Performance Meet in 30:28.16 … won a 5k at the Portland Distance Carnival in 14:12.11 … set a 5k PR of 14:07.15 at the Portland Track Festival.

High School and Personal: Born in Addis Ababa in Ethiopia … parents are Julie and Jason Distel … was ASB Executive President … won the 1A Washington state cross country championship in 2021 with the second-fastest time across classifications … also in 2021 captured the Nike Portland XC title by 12 seconds in a 5,000-meter best of 14:47.
