2017: Turned in his most consistent season to date in the triple jump, upping his PR and finishing top-three at the Pac-12 Championships for the second time … at the Pac-12 meet in Eugene, took third in the triple jump with a best of 50-9 ½ … advanced to NCAA West Prelims for a third time, finishing 21st with a mark of 51-0 ¼ … set a new PR at the Texas Relays, winning the B section with a mark of 51-10 ½ … won the UW-WSU Dual triple jump going 50-1 ¾ … opened his outdoor season with a victory at the Trojan Invitational in L.A., going 51-feet, 5-inches … indoors, competed just twice, but took runner-up honors at the MPSF Championships with a mark of 49-5 ¾ … also second at the UW Invitational at 49-9.
2016: Season was limited by a hamstring issue but still scored once again in the triple jump at Pac-12s and advanced to a second NCAA West Prelims … took seventh at the home Pac-12 Championships at Husky Track, going 49-4 ½ … at West Prelims in Kansas, jumped 49-3 ¾ to place 30th overall … won the triple jump at the UW-WSU Dual meet with a best mark of 49-feet, 10-inches ... had a wind-aided leap of 50-2 1/2 at the Mt. SAC Relays on April 16 in his first competition since January ... competed just once during the indoor season due to a hamstring issue, but got an indoor PR of 50-10 1/4 at the UW Invitational to move to No. 2 on the UW indoor triple jump top-10.
2015: Washington’s newcomer of the year on the men’s side, as the late entry into college athletics made a huge splash late in the season, flying to the second-best triple jump in school history and finishing runner-up at the Pac-12 Championships … headed into the Pac-12 meet with a season-best of 49-0 ¼, but then proceeded to break that old PR on five of six jumps, going 50-8 ¼ on his second attempt and then 51-8 ½ on his round five jump to finish second … that mark of 51-8 ½ broke the freshman school record and ranked No. 2 in UW history … followed that up by competing at the NCAA West Prelims, where he finished 18th overall with a mark of 50-6 ¾ … won the UW-WSU Dual triple jump with a mark of 48-11 … first 49-foot leap was 49-0 ¼ at the Stanford Invitational, finishing third … led the team in the triple jump indoors, with a best of 48-2 ¾ at the Husky Classic … first indoor competition was unattached at the UW Indoor Preview, where he went 48-3 ¼.
High School and Personal: Born in Tacoma, Wash. … parents are Carolyn and Ken Burns … has one older brother, KaeBee (Kenneth, II) who is a 2012 graduate of the University of Washington … mother Carolyn has held the 4A Washington State Record in the Girls 4x400m relay since 1983 … father Ken is a 10 year U.S. Army veteran … in the Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP) at UW ROTC and 7229th U.S. Army Reserve Medical Support Unit (MSU) ... job title in SMP is *09-R* … a ASCP certified laboratory technician ... has been involved in Track & Field since he was eight years old … coaches jumps at his high school alma mater Kennedy Catholic ... ran for Rainier Beach Track Club and competed at Nationals many times … took 7th in the multi-events and 5th in 4x400m Relay at the USATF National Meet held in Eugene, OR in 2004 … took 7th in the 4x400m Relay at the USATF National Meet in Baltimore, MD in 2006 … captain of his high school track team his junior and senior year … took second in the triple jump at the 2011 3A State Championship as a senior, and was seventh as a junior in 2010 … won the triple jump at the BorderDuel Track Classic in 2011 with a mark of 47-0 1/4 ... graduated with a 3.56 GPA ... plans to major in Biology.
