BERKELEY, Calif. - No. 4 California scored two runs in the third inning, and Washington could not capitalize on six hits and five hit batters, to give the Bears a 2-0 win over the top-ranked Huskies. UW (37-4, 1-1) and Cal (38-8, 2-2) will meet again tomorrow at 1 p.m.
Freshman Jaime Clark and senior Rosie Leutzinger each went 2-for-3, Clark with two doubles and Leutzinger doubled once and kept alive her 19-game hitting streak alive. Senior Jamie Graves (17-3) took the loss, strikeing out four in 2.2 innings before classmate Jennifer Spediacci relieved her and whiffed five the remainder of the game. It marked just the second time this season the Huskies have been shut out.
