Lamb's Walk-Off Triple Beats Pacific, 4-3

SEATTLE - Jacob Lamb's triple in the ninth inning scored Joe Meggs from first base and lifted the Washington baseball team to a 4-3 win over Pacific in a non-conference game Monday at Husky Ballpark.
Pacific (15-31) had scored two runs in the top of the ninth to tie the score at 3-3. However, after an out, Meggs singled to center and Lamb belted a ball to the gap in right-center, easily scoring Meggs with the winning run.
Reliever Adam Cimber (4-4) picked up the win, having gotten the final two outs in the top of the ninth. Starter Geoff Brown and freshman reliever Zach Wright combined to hold the Tigers to just one run on three hits over the first eight innings. Brown gave up a run on two hits over four innings and Wright faced one over the minimum over the next eight, allowing just one hit.
Washington improved to 15-32 with the win.
Tigers reliever Chris Larsen (1-2) suffered the loss, allowing two runs on four hits over three innings.
After having been set down in order in each of the first three innings, Pacific got a leadoff single from Tyger Pederson to open the fourth. After taking second on a bunt and third on a single, he scored on a sacrifice fly from Allen Riley to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.
Washington, which had several chances in the first five innings, finally got to Pointer in the sixth. After singles from Eric Peterson and Ryan Wiggins put runners at first and second with one out, right fielder Chase Anselment belted a double to right field to score Peterson. Ty Afenir followed with a single to left, driving in Wiggins to give the Huskies a 2-1 lead.
In the seventh, Meggs doubled to extend his hitting streak to 14 games. After moving to third on a groundout, he scored on an infield single from Peterson, stretching the lead to 3-1.
In the ninth, the Tigers, who had gotten only three runners on base through the first eight innings, loaded the bases with one out on two singles and a walk. Cimber came on and struck out Allen Riley for the second out, but center fielder Daniel Johnston came through with a single up the middle to score two, tying the game at 3-3.
The Huskies close out the home schedule this weekend as No. 8 Arizona State visits Husky Ballpark Friday though Sunday for a three-game series.
