SEATTLE --The Husky women's soccer team wraps up the regular season on Friday when it crosses the Cascades to take on archrival Washington State live on the Pac-12 Networks. Washington (10-6-3, 3-5-2 Pac-12) is looking to finish the season with a win to further strengthen its NCAA tournament resume.
Friday's game will be at 2 p.m. at the Cougars Lower Soccer Field. Washington State (11-6-1, 5-4-1 Pac-12) is fighting for a tournament spot of its own. The Dawgs have the better RPI of 32 due to a difficult non-conference schedule, but both teams enter the match feeling it needs a win.
The Dawgs are coming off a solid weekend at home, shutting out Oregon, 2-0, before tying Oregon State, 2-2. The Oregon State game started disastrously as the Dawgs allowed two unusual goals, but fought back to earn a result.
Lindsay Elstonscored in both games last weekend and is up to 10 goals on the season. She is now tied for sixth all-time at Washington for goals in a single season and has moved into the Husky top-10 for a career with 18. Elston is also third in the conference in both goals (10) and points (25).
The Dawgs and Cougs have played an overtime game each of the last four meetings with three ending in a tie. WSU leads the all-time series as the Huskies have accumulated a 7-9-5 record. Last year the two teams played to a 0-0 draw at the Husky Soccer Stadium.
Washington State is led by Michael Castain who like Elston has 10 goals on the season. Overall, the Cougars have 37 goals, which ranks fourth in the conference.
Friday's game will conclude the regular season for the Huskies, but the team will gather Monday, Nov. 5, for the NCAA Selection Show. The show will be streamed live on ncaa.com at 1:30 p.m. The link to the show is available on the sidebar.
