AT WASHINGTON:
Ended his career as the first Husky player ever to earn back-to-back NSCAA First-Team All-America honors...was the first UW player to earn NSCAA First-Team acclaim as a junior... two-time semifinalist for the M.A.C. Hermann Trophy...first player in Pac-10 Conference history to become a four-time All-Pac-10 honoree...was Pac-10 Co-Player of the Year in 2004 and Pac-10 Freshman of the Year in 2001...three-time NSCAA Far West Region selection...started every game he played in (69)...ended his career with 10 goals, 21 assists, 41 points, four gamewinning goals.
2004 (Senior) - Started the year playing defender and was moved to midfield at the midpoint of the season...named to the NSCAA All-America first-team for the second-straight season...first Husky to earn back-to-back first-team honors...Pac-10 Co-Player of the Year...M.A.C. Hermann Trophy semifinalist...first-team All-Far West Region selection...first-team All-Pac-10, making him the first four-time All-Pac-10 player in conference history...Soccer America preseason All-American...named Pac-10 Player of the Week Oct. 11, for having two goals and two assists in UW's 3-0 win over then-No. 3 California (Oct. 8) and a draw with then-No. 7 Stanford (Oct. 10)...scored one goal and assisted the other two against previously unbeaten Cal...had another goal in a 2-2 overtime draw with Stanford...also named to College Soccer News National Team of the Week for that performance...started every match he played (19)...second on the team in goals (5) and points (38)...tied for team lead in assists (6)...five goals was a career-high, six assists matched his career high from 2003...one gamewinning goal, came in the 3-0 shutout of Cal...assisted Casey Armstrong's goal in UW's 1-0 upset of then-No. 5 Connecticut (Sept. 4) on the road...had an assist in UW's NCAA first round loss to Portland (Nov. 19).
2003 (Junior) - Established himself as one of the top players in the nation and also one of the best to wear a Husky jersey...first player in UW history to earn NSCAA first-team All-American honors...also a second-team All-American according to College Soccer News...Hermann Trophy Finalist..NSCAA All-West-Region first-team selection...first-team All-Pac-10 honoree...Soccer America preseason All-American...Most Valuable Player of Marquette Invitational and Offensive MVP in Portland Invitational...set career highs in both goals (3) and assists (6)...scored all three goals in back-to-back-to-back games against Michigan (Sept. 19), Marquette (Sept. 21), and Kentucky (Sept. 26)...two of his three goals were gamewinners...scored gamewinning penalty kick in overtime to lift UW over Michigan, 3-2...missed the NCAA Tournament due to playing in the FIFA World Youth Championship with the Under-20 U.S. National Team.
2002 (Sophomore) - Selected to NSCAA All-Far West Region Team...first-team All-Pac-10 selection...team co-captain...started all 16 games he played...missed the last two weeks of the regular season competing with the U.S. U-20 Men's National Team in its CONCACAF World Qualifying Tournament in Charleston, S.C....scored one goal and dished out four assists...his 32 shots were second-best on the team...lone goal of the season lifted the Huskies to biggest win of the season...had the game-winning goal in double overtime to lift UW over third-ranked and eventual NCAA Champion, UCLA, 2-1 (Nov. 1)...earned All-Tournament team honors at the Gamecock Soccer Classic hosted by South Carolina...had team-high five shots versus Central Florida (Aug. 31).
2001 (Freshman) - Had an exceptional first season and was named to Soccer America Magazine's All-Freshman Team and tabbed 2001 Pac-10 Conference Freshman of the Year...only second Husky named to Soccer America team...along with the conference freshman honor, was a second team All-Pac-10 selection...named Pac-10 Player of the Week after helping UW to a 1-0 overtime victory over Santa Clara...started 17 games and scored one goal with five assists...goal came against Seattle University...took a team-high 50 shots...five assists were second-most on the squad...also played defender on the U.S. Under-20 squad.
CLUB/HIGH SCHOOL: Parade Magazine All-America first team selection...national team player since 1997...played with the U-18 team that posted a record of 2-2 in August, 2001...resume includes a distinguished high school, club and national level career...captain and starter on U-16 team for coach Wurzberger in 1998 and `99...played sweeper for The Chicago Magic, his club team that won a U-17 national title in 1999...earned sectional honors was named Most Valuable Player on Christian Life High team.
PERSONAL: C.J. Klaas...born Aug. 23, 1983, in Rockford, Ill. ...son of Craig and Jan Klaas...has a brother, Kevin and a sister, Katie...an economics major...engaged to marry former Washington women's soccer player Blair Ruport.
