
Spencer Jones Earns Win In Team USA Victory

TOKYO -- Former Washington pitcher Spencer Jones earned the win for Team USA Baseball as the red, white and blue defeated Chinese Taipei, 3-2, at the Tokyo Dome in the final game of the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Premier12 Super Round.
Jones entered the game with his team trailing 2-1 in the top of the seventh inning and did not allow a hit and struck out two. Brent Rooker launched a two-run homer to left field in the bottom half of the inning and Team USA would hold on for the 3-2 win.
Jones has not allowed a run in 3 1/3 innings over three appearances. He has allowed just one hit while striking out six.

With the win, the U.S. finished the Super Round with a 2-3 record (4-3 overall) and awaits the results of the three final games to determine who will play in the bronze medal game.
If Chinese Taipei defeats Australia in their matchup tomorrow, the U.S. will play in the bronze medal game at 7 p.m. PT on Saturday, November 16. Additionally, if that result comes to fruition and Korea defeats Mexico, the stars and stripes will face Mexico in the bronze medal game with a spot in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games on the line.
