Northwestern To Be First Road Conference Test For Womenβs Hoops

SEATTLE β Washington women's basketball returns from the holiday break with its first Big Ten road matchup, taking on the Northwestern Wildcats on Saturday, December 28.
Tipoff is set for noon PT (2 p.m. CT) at Welsh-Ryan Arena in Evanston, Ill.
The game will be available on B1G+, with Noah Coffman on play-by-play and Matt Placzek as an analyst on the call. Gary Hill will call the action for the Huskies on 1090 KPTR-AM.
Saturday marks just the third-ever meeting between the new Big Ten Conference opponents, and the first since 1995.
Both of Northwestern's 1994 and 1995 season openers were against Washington.
UW won the first battle 87-79 on November 25, 1994, and dropped the second, 84-74, on November 24, 1995.
LAST TIME OUT
The Dawgs head into their conference slate with a 9-4 record, including an 8-2 record at home inside Alaska Airlines Arena. The Huskies are coming off back-to-back Husky Classic wins in Seattle over North Dakota State and Furman.
Washington held Furman to nearly 30 points under its season average (72.0 ppg), matching the fewest points allowed by the Dawgs this season (43).
10 players scored and everyone played 10+ minutes, with UW's 28 bench points powering the Huskies into the 71-43 victory.
The Dawgs opened up the game with a 22-5 lead after one quarter. Furman scored the first four before Washington took over, going on a 20-0 run.
In the first game of the Husky Classic just a day before against North Dakota State, the Huskies ended the opening frame up 22-6.
Washington was led by Devin Coppinger's career-high 15 points in the win over Furman. Elle Ladine added 14 and Hannah Stines had 12.

The Wildcats opened the season 7-5, closing out nonconference play with a 68-66 win over Howard in the Hawk Classic in Philadelphia on December 21. They are 5-3 at home and have won their last four games at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
Northwestern is led by head coach Joe McKeown, who has led the Wildcats since 2008.
Last season the Wildcats finished 9-21 overall, including a 4-14 record in the Big Ten.
