SEATTLE — The No. 20 Washington women's basketball team (9-1, 0-1 Big Ten) mounted a late comeback to defeat Green Bay (8-4, 3-0 Horizon) 79-74 Saturday afternoon in Alaska Airlines Arena.
The Huskies erased an 11-point deficit in the fourth quarter by knocking down five straight 3-point shots. The run began with Hannah Stines, who recorded seven fourth-quarter points, before Avery Howell, Sayvia Sellers, and Elle Ladine all followed up with 3-point shots of their own to give Washington its ninth win in non-conference play.
UW recorded its best 3-point percentage of the year, knocking down 48.3% of its shots.
Washington was equally exceptional at dishing out the basketball, recording 18 assists on 29 made buckets. Senior center Yulia Grabovskaia led the way with six, which she complemented with 10 points and six rebounds.
Sellers continued her incredible start to the season offensively, recording 30 points with seven made 3-pointers, setting a new career-high. It's her fourth 30-point effort in the last two seasons, and she has led the team in scoring in each game except one this season.
Howell notched her second straight double-double, hauling in 12 rebounds to match her 11 points. She's the first Husky with consecutive double-doubles since Dalayah Daniels did so to close the 2024-25 season.
Ladine knocked down three 3-pointers in her 11-point effort, while adding four rebounds and four assists.
The Huskies forced 13 opponent turnovers, which they turned into 14 points. UW recorded eight steals as a team, with Stines, Howell, and Brown each recording two. Howell and Coppinger each notched two of the team's six blocks.
Next up, Washington travels to Palo Alto, California to take on Stanford on Friday, Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. Afterward, the Huskies will travel to take on Pacific on Sunday, Dec. 21 at 1 p.m. These are the final two non-conference games on UW's schedule.
