
Huskies Drop Game Two Against Rutgers On Saturday

The Huskies fall to 12-16 and 5-3 in the Big Ten while Rutgers improves to 12-15 and 3-5 in conference play.
Rutgers got on the board first, putting up two runs in the first inning and adding a third in the second.
Sam DeCarlo opened the scoring for Washington in the third, launching his fourth home run of the season. The solo shot cut into the Scarlet Knights' lead as the Huskies trailed 3-1 at the end of the third.
Rutgers added four runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth, however. The Huskies fought back with three runs in the seventh, but ultimately couldn't complete the comeback.
Braeden Terry led all Husky hitters, going three-for-three on the day. AJ Guerrero also had a multi-hit day, recording a single and an RBI double in the seventh inning. Casen Taggart also recorded an RBI single in the seventh and Blake Wilson added a sacrifice fly for the fourth RBI on the day.
Jackson Thomas pitched 5.0 innings as the starter, allowing eight hits and seven runs in his outing. Sawyer Parkin took over for the sixth while Charlie Denomme took the seventh and one third of the eighth. Peysen Sweeney then closed out the final two outs in the eight inning.
Washington returns to action on Sunday with a chance to claim its third-straight Big Ten series win. First pitch is set for 9:00 a.m. PT and the game will be broadcast on Big Ten Network.
