Huskies Shutout Northwestern To Complete Perfect Big Ten Road Swing
September 29, 2025 | Men's Soccer
EVANSTON, Ill. – Washington secured a second-straight Big Ten win on Monday night, taking down Northwestern 1-0 on the road.
The Huskies move to 6-3-2, including 3-1 in Big Ten play with the victory. Washington stands alone at the top of the conference leaderboard with nine points and is the first team to reach three Big Ten victories this season.
Harrison Bertos was key to the victory on both ends of the pitch. In the 18th minute, Bertos made the first of his two goal-line clearances in the match to keep Northwestern off the board.
He followed up his defensive effort with the game-winning goal only four minutes later.
Richie Aman played a corner kick on the ground to Alex Hall who looped in a cross to the far post, finding Bertos's head for the score.
The Huskies are now 5-0-0 on the year when scoring first.
Washington absorbed pressure from the Wildcats for the remainder of the match and saw out the victory. Despite multiple players exiting with injuries, the Huskies battled hard for the shutout win.
Bertos, Egor Akulov, Zach Ramsey, Alex Hall, Charlie Kosakoff, and Levi Bieber each played the full 90 minutes in Evanston. Bieber earned his third clean sheet of the season, facing a career-high 19 shots while making a career-high four saves.
The Huskies will look for their third-straight win on Friday, October 3 as they host Indiana at Husky Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. PT with the match broadcast on Big Ten Network.
