SEATTLE - The No. 7 Huskies return to Big Ten play on Friday night at No. 6 Michigan State. The contest has huge Big Ten standings implications, with UW owning a 4-1-1 record in conference play while the Spartans sit at 5-1-1.
The match is set to be broadcast on Big Ten Plus with live stats at HuskyStats.com. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. PT.
TOP SEVEN MATCHUP IN MICHIGAN
Washington faces its eighth ranked opponent of the year in No. 6 Michigan State on Friday night. The Huskies look for their fourth ranked win while sitting fourth in the Big Ten standings, but have a game in hand. With a win over Michigan State, UW would be tied with Indiana atop the Big Ten standings.
HUSKIES CLAIM FEWING CUP IN 3-1 WIN
Washington continued its winning ways last week, taking down Seattle U 3-1 at Husky Soccer Stadium. The victory keeps the Fewing Cup on Montlake and improves UW's record in the series to 9-2.
Washington improves to 8-3-2 on the season with the win.
The Huskies wasted no time in getting the party started. Wyatt Lewis opened the scoring just 68 seconds into the match, collecting his own rebound and firing it home for the first goal of the match.
It was Lewis' first goal as a Husky and gave the Dawgs the lead barely a minute into the contest.
The next goal was another first, as Cameron Cruz bagged his first collegiate goal in the 43rd minute. Zach Ramsey played a free kick into the box where it was headed up by Kevin Hernandez. Cameron Cruz caught the airborne ball with a bicycle kick, sending it to the near post.
The acrobatic strike doubled the lead for Washington just before halftime.
Washington was the aggressor in first half, tallying 11 shots to Seattle U's zero.
The Huskies brought home the third goal of the match in the 73rd minute off a beautifully worked run of play. At the top of the box, Zach Ramsey slid a pass along to Clarens Dollin who passed it right back to Ramsey as he diced through the Seattle U defenders. Ramsey came up with the ball with a clear look on goal and just the keeper to beat.
Washington's star striker buried the shot, netting his 16th goal of the season. The strike ties him for fourth in Washington's record book for goals in a season and is the joint-most in a season since David Berto scored 17 goals in 1989.
Seattle U would go on to pull a goal back in the 88th minute, but it wouldn't be enough to alter the result.
Washington dominated across the 90 minutes, outshooting Seattle U 18-4 and collecting 10 corners to the visitors' four.
Stockton Short made his return in goal, playing the full 90 minutes while making one save. Egor Akulov, Connor Lofy, Wyatt Lewis, and Gabe Fernandez each chipped in 90 minutes of game time as well.
THE RANKINGS CLIMB CONTINUESÂ
Washington entered the rankings again in week six after a four week hiatus. Three weeks ago, the Huskies jumped from an unranked squad to 15th in the United Soccer Coaches poll. Last week they climbed to No. 13 before reaching No. 7 this week.
The Huskies recently finished a stretch of four straight matches against ranked opponents, earning victories over No. 3 Ohio State and No. 22 Rutgers along with the draw against No. 19 Wisconsin.
All three of Washington's losses this season have come against ranked opponents (No. 18 San Diego, No. 25 Oregon State, No. 2 Indiana).
TOP DRAWER SOCCER TOP-100 PLAYERS
Three Huskies were tabbed top-100 midseason players by Top Drawer Soccer on Thursday. Zach Ramsey paces the group and the nation as TDS's No. 1 ranked player. It's no surprise he leads the group as he is the nation's leader in goals, goals per game, points, points per game, and shots on goal.
Harrison Bertos checked in at No. 12 and Alex Hall came in at No. 18, making it three Huskies inside the top-20.
MAC HERMANN TROPHY MIDSEASON WATCHLIST
Zach Ramsey and Harrison Bertos have been named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Midseason Watchlist the United Soccer Coaches announced. The pair of star players for the Huskies are two of 30 players named to the prestigious award's watchlist.
Zach Ramsey has been arguably the best player in college soccer this season. He leads the nation in total goals (16), goals per game (1.33), total points (37), points per game (3.08), shots on goal per game (2.92), and penalty kicks (1.00). His 16 goals are the fourth-most in a season by a Husky, even with four games to play in the regular season.
After his iconic match winner in the national championship a season ago, Harrison Bertos has again shown his dominance on the pitch. He's helped Washington to four shutouts this year while also chipping in three goals, two of which have been match winners.
GOALS GALORE
Washington has been one of the highest scoring teams in the NCAA this season. The Huskies have bagged 35 goals, the sixth-most in the nation at a 2.69 clip, the seventh-best in the NCAA.
In six of Washington's eight victories, the Huskies have scored four goals.
Zach Ramsey leads the nation in total goals (16), goals per game (1.33), total points (37), points per game (3.08), shots on goal per game (2.92), and sits third in shots per game (4.50), and eighth in shot accuracy (.648). Ramsey's goal tally is the most by a Husky since Kevin Forrest bagged 16 in 2006 and tied for the fourth most in a single season by a Husky in program history.
PICKING UP STEAM
Washington is displaying a dominant offense week in and week out. The Huskies sit in the top-30 in several key metrics, including first in corner kicks per game (8.38), penalty kicks (1.00), shots on goal per game (9.08), third in shots per game (18.00), sixth in total goals (32), seventh in scoring offense (2.67), seventh in points per game (7.85), eighth in total points (102), 10th in goal differential (19), 11th in shot accuracy (.504), 14th in total assists (32), 14th in assists per game (2.46), and 30th in winning percentage (.692).
FRESHMAN FIREPOWER
Jake Goetting has burst onto the scene for the Huskies. He's featured in 10 games and logged 295 minutes, scoring his first goal against Ohio State. He's fired in 12 shots, the fifth-most of the team, including five on target.
Most recently, Goetting provided the unrecorded assist on the game-winning goal against Northwestern as he drew the foul inside the penalty box to set up Ramsey's winning strike. He was also crucial in the buildup to the third goal against Seattle U, helping Zach Ramsey bag his 16th goal of the season.
TRANSFER POWER
Transfer players Stockton Short and Wyatt Lewis have made immediate impacts on Montlake, as both players have featured heavily this season.
Short, coming from Utah Tech, was selected by the Seattle Sounders in the 2026 MLS SuperDraft, but opted to come to Washington for his fifth year of college soccer. He's helped the Huskies to four shutouts this season, including his second solo shutout against Ohio State. Against Rutgers, Short made a season-high six saves to help preserve the 4-1 victory.
Lewis, from Notre Dame, has been a constant force in the midfield. He's played in all 13 games, starting in 12. He recorded his first goal as a Husky against Seattle U, opening the scoring just 62 seconds into the match. He has one assist as well but has had a far greater impact than the numbers show. He's played more than 80 minutes in 10 games and has the third-most minutes played on the team.
SOPHOMORE STRENGTH
Jamie Clark has relied heavily on his second-year players this season. Zack Meier has been the go-to option at right back, starting each match and logging 944 minutes, the sixth-most on the team.
Osato Enabulele has been showing off his versatility, playing both in the midfield and as a striker for Washington. The Texas native has played in 12 matches with 10 starts and has four goals to his name.
Kevin Hernandez has also become a regular for the Huskies. He's played in all 13 matches with four starts and 618 total minutes of action. Like Enabulele, he's been used all around the pitch, even at defender. Hernandez has assisted two goals and has 11 shots, four of which have been on target.
HUSKY DEBUTS
11 Huskies have seen the field for the first time so far this season.
Emmett Layman, Callum Lugton, Nate Chandler, Ibrahim Rashad, Harper Mikolasy, Shaun Brun, and Kenny Pierpoint each made their Washington debuts against Gonzaga. Stockton Short, Wyatt Lewis, and Jake Goetting each got their first minutes against San Diego. Noah Newman made his Washington debut against Northwestern, playing the second half where he made two saves without conceding a goal.
PICKED TO TOP THE BIG TEN
The reigning national champions were tabbed the top team in the Big Ten this preseason as announced by the conference on Tuesday morning. Washington leads the way, followed by Maryland, Indiana, UCLA and Michigan in the top five.
It's no surprise the Huskies are picked as the top team in the conference. Washington is coming off its most successful season in history, which culminated with the 2025 national championship, the first title for the program.
FIVE HUSKIES SELECTED IN MLS SUPERDRAFT
Five Huskies were selected in the 2026 MLS SuperDraft, headlined by No. 8 overall selection Richie Aman by DC United. The MAC Hermann Trophy Finalist becomes the fifth Top-10 selection for the Huskies in the last five years
Zach Ramsey was the second Husky off the board, going to the Vancouver Whitecaps at No. 17 in the first round. Joe Dale was next, going to the Seattle Sounders at the 51st overall pick in the second round.
Asher Hestad came off the board just five picks later, going to the Colorado Rapids with the 56th overall pick. Connor Lofy rounded out the draft class for the Huskies as he was selected with the 89th pick in the third round by Vancouver.
The five draft selections from Washington are the most of any team in the 2026 MLS SuperDraft. It's also the most draft picks Washington has had selected since 2022 when five Huskies were also picked. Of the five picks, three are returning to Washington for the 2026 season. Ramsey, Hestad, and Lofy will once again suit up for the Huskies this fall.
ROAD DAWGS
Washington is the only team in NCAA history to win the title after six consecutive tournament games away from home. The Huskies defeated Oregon State, SMU, Stanford, and Maryland all at their opponents' home fields before winning two neutral site matches in the College Cup. The Huskies became just the second team ever to advance to the College Cup after four road victories in the NCAA Tournament in 2025. UMBC was the first to achieve the feat in 2014, ultimately falling in the semifinal round to Virginia.
HOMEGROWN TALENT
Washington's roster features 20 of 29 players who hail from the state of Washington. Four players claim Seattle as their hometown (Asher Hestad, Noah Newman, Cameron Cruz, and Jaeger Felton), two are from Redmond (Egor Akulov and Zach Ramsey) and two others call Kirkland home (Zack Meier and Connor Lofy).
Of Washington's nine out of state players, four hail from California (Nate Chandler, Jake Goetting, Nick O'Brien, and Ibrahim Rashad), and one each from Oregon (Callum Lugton), Massachusetts (Harrison Bertos), Utah (Stockton Short), Texas (Osato Enabulele), and Missouri (Wyatt Lewis).
POSTSEASON REGULARS
Washington has become a common name in the NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament. In the last 15 years, the Huskies have reached the tournament 12 times. Washington is also one of three teams to reach the College Cup twice in the last five years (Notre Dame & Clemson).
Only Washington and Clemson have reached the championship game twice in the last five years.
CREAM OF THE CROP
In 15 seasons on Montlake, Jamie Clark has orchestrated the meteoric rise of Washington men's soccer, distinguishing the team as one of the nation's top college soccer programs. Clark has led the Huskies to a record of 198-75-43, three Pac-12 titles, 12 trips to the NCAA Tournament and a national championship in 2025. Of those postseason appearances, Clark's Huskies have made five trips to the NCAA Quarterfinals, including three straight NCAA Quarterfinals appearances from 2019-21 and two College Cup runs in 2021 and 2025.
Clark currently ranks eighth in winning percentage among active head coaches with a .696 percentage and is in his 19th season.
