Maya Loudd Reels In Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week
October 06, 2026 | Women's Soccer
ROSEMONT, Ill. โ Washington's Maya Loudd has been named the Big Ten's Defensive Player of the Week, announced Tuesday by the conference office.
ย
Loudd becomes UW's second DPOTW honoree of the season, joining fellow outside back Maylen Montoya. It is the second B1G weekly award for Loudd, garnering the same plaudit for matchweek eight in 2025.
ย
The Tualatin, Oregon, native played a pivotal role in locking down the USC offense for the entirety of Washington's 1-0 victory on Saturday, the eighth clean sheet in 12 matches for the Huskies.
ย
Logging all 90 minutes of the match, Loudd and her compatriots held the Trojans outside of the 18-yard box for nearly the entirety of Saturday's action, allowing just one shot on goal on the night, an attempt from distance that was easily grabbed by keeper Tanner Ijams.
ย
Since Loudd established herself as a starting XI staple in 2024, Washington has boasted one of the elite defensive units in all of college soccer. Over the last three seasons, UW has racked up 31 shutouts, tied for the third most in the nation during that span.
ย
The fleet-footed right back also contributed to UW's attack throughout the win over the Trojans, making several overlapping runs down the flank and finishing the match with a pair of shot attempts.
ย
Loudd and the Dawgs remain home for a pair of matches this week, promoting Huskies for a Cure Thursday night against Iowa before hosting Penn State Sunday during the annual Down Syndrome Acceptance Match.
