Huskies Shutout Bulldogs In Twin Bill Friday In Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. -- The No. 24 Husky softball team opened this weekend's five-game slate with two shutout victories over Fresno State on Friday at Margie Wright Diamond.
In the opening game, the Huskies defeated the Bulldogs 2-0 before exploding for a 9-0 victory in five innings in game two of the day.
Game 1 – No. 24 Washington vs. Fresno State
Alexis DeBoer hit the lone home run of the day, a homer to right field on the third pitch of her at-bat.
A pitcher's duel between Sophia Ramuno, who struck out eight Bulldog batters, and Fresno State's pitching staff saw no more scoring for the next five straight innings.
The next and final Husky run came in the seventh, as DeBoer singled up the middle to drive in Marley Teasley and secure the 2-0 win.
Game 2 – No. 24 Washington vs. Fresno State
Morgan Reimer got the start in the circle in the second outing, striking out four Fresno State batters.
All of UW's scoring came in the second and third innings, as four runs scored in the second frame and five poured in in the third.
The freshman trio of Ally Hetzel, Kaycie Burdick and Mila Reddy scored two runs apiece. Ava Carroll had two hits on the evening herself, along with four RBI.
Washington concludes the three-game series tomorrow at Fresno State. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. on the Mountain West Network.
