No. 17 Huskies Improve To 7-0

SEATTLE – No. 17 Washington women's tennis improved to 7-0 following a 4-0 victory over No. 30 San Diego on Sunday afternoon at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.

It is the first time since Spring 2021 that the Huskies have started the season 7-0. The Dawgs have also won all seven doubles points this season, marking the first time that's happened since that 2021 season.

No. 81 Erika Matsuda and Carina Syrtveit made quick work on the first doubles court, securing a 6-1 victory. On the final two courts, the teams were going back-and-forth before Alexia Jacobs and Marie Weissheim clinched the point on Court 2 with a 7-5 win. Reece Carter and Jermine Sherif went unfinished on the third court with the match tied a five.

UW continued the doubles momentum over to singles. All six Huskies won the first set for the first time this season.

No. 90 Weissheim put the second Husky point on the board with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Gabby Gregg. Weissheim is 6-0 this dual season with five of those wins coming on the No. 5 court.

No. 65 Carter improved to 6-0 at the No. 2 singles spot with a straight set win over No. 112 Hannah Read, 6-4, 6-0, to secure the third point for the Dawgs.

Syrtveit clinched the match with her win over Anni Moll. 6-4, 6-1. Syrtveit has gone undefeated in her last four matches with three wins and one that went unfinished.
