
Huskies Launch Three Home Runs To Take Series Win Over Northwestern

SEATTLE – Washington slugged three long balls to take down Northwestern 7-2 and clinch the Big Ten series victory on Sunday.
The Huskies improve to 12-15 on the year and 6-6 in Big Ten play.
Hayden Lewis turned in a strong start for the Dawgs, throwing 6.0 innings with only one run allowed on three hits. After giving up one run and two hits in the first inning, Lewis threw five more frames while allowing only one more hit.
He added four strikeouts on the day as well.
Offensively, the Huskies got going in the fourth inning. With Mic Paul and Ethan Swidler on base, Jackson Hotchkiss stepped up to the plate with two outs. On a 2-0 count, the sophomore hit a towering shot to centerfield for his eighth home run of the season.
The Huskies took a 3-1 lead into the top of the fifth and never looked back.
In the sixth inning, Ethan Swidler tacked on another run with the second Husky homer of the day. He swung on the first pitch he saw, launching the ball over the centerfield wall for his third home run of the season.
Daniel Porras connected for the third big fly of the game for the Huskies in the seventh. Hotchkiss reached on a leadoff single before Porras launched a ball 404 feet to deep center field for his fifth home run of the season.
Ty Cowan added one more run for the Huskies in the seventh, scoring Blake Wilson with an RBI double.
Bryce Johnson took over for Hayden Lewis in the seventh and finished out the game to earn his second save of the season. He allowed just two hits and one run in his three innings while striking out two batters.
Washington returns to action on Tuesday afternoon in Corvallis, Oregon, taking on No. 16 Oregon State at 5:30 p.m.
