Huskies Secure Fifth B1G Series With 7-2 Win Over Minnesota
April 11, 2026 | Softball
SEATTLE – The No. 19 softball team (33-9, 14-0 Big Ten) clinched its fifth Big Ten series on Saturday night, besting Minnesota 7-2 at Husky Softball Stadium.
With the win tonight, the Huskies improve to 14-0 in conference play and remain the only unbeaten team in the B1G.
The Huskies notched a leadoff single in each of the first four innings, starting with Kaycie Burdick and Alexis DeBoer hitting back-to-back singles in the bottom of the opening frame.
The Gophers got on the board first with a solo home run in the top of the second, but the Dawgs quickly regained the lead in the bottom of the inning.
A trio of Huskies had a pair of hits on Saturday, with Burdick, DeBoer and Marley Teasley each registering two.
Ava Carroll's bunt single got Washington going in the second, followed by a single from Melody Acevedo. Teasley notched her first hit of the day to load the bases with DeBoer on deck.
DeBoer delivered with a grand slam, her first of her sophomore year and third for the Huskies this season, to put the Dawgs up 4-1.
Minnesota responded with an RBI single to open up the third inning and narrow the UW lead, but from then on it was all Huskies, who scored three more runs in the fourth to win the game 7-2 and secure the series.
Washington and Minnesota will play the final game of the weekend on Sunday, April 12 at noon at Husky Softball Stadium. The action can be steamed on Big Ten Plus.
