
No. 18 Oregon Takes Game One Of Rivalry Series

SEATTLE – The No. 20 softball team (34-10, 15-1 Big Ten) dropped its first conference game of the season Friday night, falling to 18th-ranked Oregon 4-8 in the opening game of the series at Jane Sanders Stadium.
Oregon delivered the first punch, recording a two-run home run in the bottom of the opening frame.
The Ducks extended their lead with a run in the bottom of the third in the form of an RBI single.
Giselle Alvarez put the Dawgs on the board with a solo shot in the top of the sixth to bring Washington within a pair.
Acevedo tied the game, hitting a two-RBI double that knotted things up at 3-3.
The Ducks had an opportunity to take the lead once again in the bottom of the sixth, loading the bases and walking in a run to go up 4-3.
Oregon hit a grand slam to blow the game wide open, taking an 8-3 lead and scoring five of its eight runs in the bottom of the sixth.
An Alexis DeBoer double brought in the fourth Husky run in the top of the seventh, but it wasn't enough as Oregon snatched game one.
Game two of the series will begin Saturday, April 18 at 3 p.m. at Jane Sanders Stadium and will be streamed on Big Ten Plus.
