BELLEVUE, Wash. - Washington wraps up the nonconference slate on Tuesday, facing off against Seattle U for the third time this season. The Huskies are 1-1 against their cross-town foe and will look to take the series at Bannerwood Park.

SECOND SEASON UNDER SMITH
On July 9, 2024, Eddie Smith was named the 25th head coach of University of Washington baseball, announced by UW Director of Athletics Pat Chun. Smith, a native of Olympia, Washington, comes to Montlake after three seasons at Utah Valley. Smith begins his second season at the helm of the Huskies in 2026.

Following the game at Seattle U, the Huskies will travel to face Penn State in the final regular season road series.
DAWGS TOP NO. 13 DUCKS
The Huskies jumped out to an early lead and held on to secure a 9-5 win over No. 13 Oregon in the series finale on Sunday. For the third straight game, the Dawgs got on the board in the first inning. Jackson Hotchkiss led off the game with a single before Sam DeCarlo ripped his seventh home run of the season.
Hayden Lewis turned in an impressive showing against the ranked Ducks. The senior right hander tossed a career-high eight total innings with seven hits and just two earned runs against eight strikeouts.
Holding a 2-1 advantage, the Huskies came up to bat in the bottom of the sixth inning and unleashed a barrage. In total, Washington would score seven runs in a 36-minute half inning. Jackson Hotchkiss then tagged his 16th home run of the season, a 405-foot solo shot to left field. Not to be outdone by his teammate, Blake Wilson teed off a three-run 365-foot home run just a few at bats later, bringing the inning run total to seven. It's the second-most rusn the Ducks have allowed in a single inning all season, trailing the eight they gave up to Michigan on April 2.
Sam DeCarlo led all Husky hitters, going 3-3 on the day while Jackson Hotchkiss, Ty Cowan, and Braeden Terry each chipped in two hits. Hayden Lewis earned his sixth win of the year while Bryce Johnson closed out the game, throwing the final frame with two hits, one run, and one strikeout.
HUSKIES DOWN THE EAGLES
The Huskies earned a thrilling 6-4 win over Eastern Michigan on Tuesday, taking down the Eagles with a go-ahead ninth inning home run from Sam DeCarlo. The Huskies jumped in front first, scoring one in the first inning and two more in the third to open up a 3-0 lead.
Washington held the Eagles at bay for much of the game, but in the sixth, the hosts found some offense. Eastern Michigan scored on a three-run home run to tie the game. Two innings later, the same player homered again to put Eastern Michigan ahead 4-3. With two on and one out in the top of the ninth inning, Sam DeCarlo stepped up to the plate. On a 1-2 count, the senior shortstop belted the ball to deep right field, firing the Huskies back in front. It was DeCarlo's sixth home run of the year and put Washington back in the driver's seat.
Gunnar Nichols slammed the door in the ninth, forcing three popouts to center field to secure the victory. Nichols was credited with the win after pitching the final 1.1 innings of the game. He allowed one hit and struck out one batter.
DAWGS ON THE BIG SCREEN
Washington and UCLA will have all three of their games broadcast on Big Ten Network, the conference announced. The series, which will be Washington's final three home games of the season, are set to take place on Thursday, May 14, Friday, May 15, and Saturday, May 16.
With the move to linear television, the game times have also been adjusted. Both Thursday's and Friday's games will begin at 6 p.m. PT while Saturday's game will start at 12 p.m. PT.
HOTCHKISS ON A HEATER
Jackson Hotchkiss has been on an absolute tear this season. After missing the month of February due to injury, he's made 35 and been the best offensive output for Washington and currently has the ninth-best home runs per game mark in the nation (.44). He's tallied a .358 batting average while scoring 41 runs on 53 hits, all team-high marks. He has the most home runs on the team (16) and is pacing the Huskies in slugging percentage (.750) and total bases (111).
Hotchkiss has also been one of the best hitters in the Big Ten, leading the conference in home runs per game (.44)while ranking in the top 15 in total home runs, batting average, slugging percentage, hits per game, RBIs per game, and runs per game.
LET KENNEY COOK
Noah Kenney has set career-high marks over the last few weeks, most recently setting a new career-high for innings pitched against Michigan State. The junior threw into the ninth frame on Friday, finishing with 8.1 innings under his belt just two weeks after setting a career-high mark of 7.0 innings.
During week eight of the season, Kenney was named to the Baseball America National Team of the Week. He diced up Valparaiso, leading the Huskies to a 6-0 shutout win with a career-high 14 strikeouts. It's the second award recognition of the season for the Parker, Colo. native after he was named to the College Baseball Foundation's Pitcher of the Year watch list.
Kenney has had a strong campaign so far which has garnered him the national attention. He's collected four wins in his nine starts and has the most innings pitched (70.2) and strikeouts (80) of any Husky. The right-hander has 12 appearances and 11 starts this year, pitching more than four innings each time he's taken the mound. Among his starts, he's thrown at least five innings in each, including at least six in each of his last six games.
SWISS ARMY BRANDENBURG
As both a starter and a reliever, Tommy Brandenburg has been strong option for the Huskies on the bump this season. Brandenburg currently leads the team with four saves. He's also claimed two wins on the season and leads the team in total appearances at 19, 17 of which have been in relief, also leading the team.
His four saves this year rank 116th in the NCAA and seventh in the Big Ten.
CERTIFIED BAG GETTERS
Washington has stolen 67 bags this season, the fourth-most in the Big Ten. Mic Paul leads the team, stealing safely on 11 of his 13 attempts while Sam DeCarlo has 10 steals and Blake Wilson has nine. Aidan Dougherty has seven steals and Hotchkiss and Landon Young both have six. Washington's opponents have stolen only 40 times and have been thrown out on 15 attempts.
HUSKY HURLERS
The Husky pitching staff ranks among the top teams in a number of pitching metrics. They're ranked 62nd in strikeout-to-walk ratio (2.25),62nd in walks allowed per nine innings (3.92), 71s in WHIP (1.44), 80th in strikeouts per nine innings (8.9), and 90th in hits allowed per nine innings (9.00).
Washington also tied a season-high 17 strikeouts last Tuesday against Portland, the third time this season the Huskies have fanned 17 batters. 17 strikeouts is the most the Huskies have had in a single game since April 9, 2021 (20 Ks vs. ASU).
TRIPLE THREAT
The Huskies have knocked 15 triples this season, the most in the Big Ten and the 15th-most in the NCAA. Braeden Terry and Blake Wilson lead the way with three, Sam DeCarlo, Mic Paul, and Colton Bower each have two while Casen Taggart, Landon Young and Jackson Hotchkiss each have one. The Huskies are averaging .32 triples per game, the 20th-most in the nation.
Blake Wilson and Braeden Terry both rank 76th in the NCAA in total triples.
HOME RUN HUSKIES
Washington has brought the boom this season to the tune of 56 homers, the 10th-most in the Big Ten and the 80th-most in the NCAA. Jackson Hotchkiss leads the way with 16, Colton Bower has 10, Sam DeCarlo is up to seven, and Daniel Porras has six.
Washington has recorded at least one home run in 13 of the last 15 games. The Huskies have slugged four home runs in a game on three occasions this season, most recently at Minnesota on April 10, the first game of a double header.
