GETTING TO KNOW KELLY CORL
WHY COLTON LOVES BASEBALL: I love baseball because it has always been my outlet and I get to play my heart out every time I’m on the field. Baseball has continued to be the thing that always makes me happy and makes things better. I have learned and grown so much from playing this sport.
WHY WASHINGTON: I chose Washington because I believe I will be able to make an impact as a freshman and continue to do that throughout my career there. I also chose Washington because it feels like home.
PREGAME RITUAL: I always get dressed the same way. Left sock goes on first then everything else. I always put an evo shield in my back left pocket. I pray to my grandmother before I ever take a step on the field.
Coach Meggs on Corl: Kelly Corl is a throwback; he’s a baseball player. He’s the guy you want up with the game on the line, and he’s going to make the big plays that get you off the field. We believe that it’s not just the players that get you to Omaha, it’s the people as well. And Kelly has a toughness about him that’s contagious, he makes everyone around him better. I expect Kelly to come in and compete immediately for AB’s at both second base and third base. This guy is a gamer.
