2016-17 (Track): Competed at two meets during the indoor season, running a mile in 5:01.55 at the UW Invitational and ran the 1,000-meters at the UW Indoor Preview in 3:00.71 … redshirted the outdoor season ... (Cross Country): Competed four times during her first college season and three times in uniform, including a trip to the Pac-12 Championships … was the 10th Husky finisher at the Pac-12 meet, placing 80th overall in Tucson, Arizona … also made the trip to the Wisconsin Invitational, running in the Open Race and finishing 47th … first official race in uniform was the Washington Invitational where she was 62nd overall in 22:03 … ran unattached at the Sundodger Invite, finishing 14th overall in 21:48.
High School and Personal: Born in Bellevue, Wash. … parents are Scott and Meg Penner … has three brothers, Charlie, Will, and Thomas, with Charlie graduating from UW in 2015 and Will currently attending UW … was sixth at the Washington 3A state cross country meet as a senior in 2015 … eighth at the 2015 Nike BorderClash … took third at state on the track in her senior year in the 3,200-meters, running 10:58.61, after a PR of 10:49.90 to win districts … also was seventh at state in the 1600m final as a senior … as a junior, qualified for state in the 800m, 1600m, and on the 4x400m relay … won six individual KingCo titles on the track and one 4x400m relay title, plus two KingCo cross country titles … won Coach’s Captain Award as a senior in track and Most Inspirational and Most Valuable awards in cross country and won “Pat Thorlakson Female Athlete of the Year” for 2015-16 … graduated with a 3.93 grade point average.
