2018: Enjoyed her best season as a senior, running a 400-meter PR and helping the 4x400m relay post some of the top times in school history … was the number three leg on the 4x4 that placed fourth at the Pac-12 Championships in 3:38.03, the No. 3 time in school history … the relay ran the exact same 3:38.03 time at NCAA West Prelims, taking 14th overall, missing a spot to NCAAs by just two places … was 16th in the 400m at Pac-12s in 55.52 seconds … got the victory at the UW-WSU Dual in the 400-meters, running a PR of 55.26 seconds and also helped the 4x4 win with a time of 3:40.07 … ran 55.27 seconds at the Mt. SAC Relays … was second in the Trojan Invitational 400-meters in 55.58 seconds … third at the Pepsi Team Invite in 56.43 … ran a wind-aided 200-meter best of 24.84 at the Ken Shannon Invite … indoors, was part of the two fastest 4x400m relays in UW history, getting the school record of 3:37.74 (converted from 3:37.30 due to altitude) at the Don Kirby Invite … the 4x4 then ran the No. 2 time in school history indoors of 3:38.57 at the MPSF Championships, taking third … 23rd in the 400m at MPSFs in 56.37 … was 15th at the UW Invitational in a time of 56.62 … was named to the Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team and the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team … was recognized for academic excellence by the UW SAAS for having the highest GPA among graduating student-athletes.
2017: Competed at both conference championships in the 400-meters and lowered her career-best time … opened the outdoor season with a new personal-best at the Trojan Invitational, clocking a 55.74 for fifth-place … posted a 55.89 at the Beach Invitational … at the Pac-12 Championships, was 22nd overall in the 400-meters … helped the 4x400m relay get the win in the UW-WSU Dual in 3:47.68 and was fourth in the 400m in 56.30 … indoors, was 22nd in the 400m at the MPSF Championships in 56.64 … ran the lead leg on the 4x400m relay that broke the indoor school record with a time of 3:42.58 at the UW Invitational … fourth in the 400-meters at the Husky Classic with a time of 56.21 … a Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team selection.
2016: One of the top quarter milers on the team, part of the 4x400m relay which clocked the second-fastest time in school history and advanced to NCAA West Preliminaries … at the Pac-12 Championships, was the third leg on the 4x400m relay that went 3:38.88 for the No. 2 mark at UW, finishing fifth in the final … at West Prelims in Kansas, the relay finished 23rd overall in 3:39.87 … finished 16th in the open 400-meters at the Pac-12 meet, running a career-best 55.97 … broke 56 seconds for the first time at the UW-WSU Dual, running 55.99 to take second and helped the 4x400m to the victory in 3:39.30 … also went 56.01 at the Ken Shannon Invite for fifth … indoors, ran on the top 4x400m relay that took second at the Husky Classic in 3:44.37, the No. 5 mark in school history … set an indoor PR of 56.00 for 400-meters at the Husky Classic, placing sixth … scored on the DMR and on the 4x4 relay at MPSF Championships, taking fifth in the DMR in 11:23.26 and sixth in the 4x4 in 3:45.55 and was 18th in the 400-meters in 56.08 … earned a spot on the Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team … a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honoree.
2015: Made an impact in her first season running the quarter mile … was part of the school-record-setting 4x400-meter relay indoors, running the third leg, as the group finished in 3:43.13 … helped the 4x400m relay take seventh at the MPSF Championships in 3:45.13 … outdoors, had a top time of 56.42 seconds at the Baldy Castillo Invite in Arizona … fifth in the 400m at the Pepsi Team Invite and was fourth in the 400m at the UW-WSU Dual … indoors, best 400-meters time of 56.71 came at the UW Invitational … also ran 56.83 at the Husky Classic … ran on 4x400m relay that took second at the UW Invitational in 3:45.47.
High School and Personal: Born in Seattle ... parents are Patty Jurgens and David Birkenfeld ... has one younger sister, Nina ... a three-time Washington state qualifier at the 4A level, making the 400-meters state final for the first time as a senior and finishing seventh ... ran a 400-meter PR of 57.18 in the state prelims in 2014 ... anchored a state title in the 4x400-meter relay as a junior in 2013 as the team ran 3:53.08 ... also was on the 4x4 that took fifth at state in 2012, and on the 4x200m relay that was fourth at state in 2014 ... also lettered in cross country in 2013 ... a 101 Club student-athlete scholarship award winner ... graduated with a 3.9 grade point average.
