TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State scored the match's lone goal in the 80th minute as Arizona State edged the Washington's women's soccer team, 1-0, Sunday in Tempe.
ASU's Sierra Cook netted her sixth goal of the year at the 79:29 mark, taking a crossing pass from Alyssa Freeman and scoring the only goal of the match.
Washington dropped to 7-8-4 overall and 3-5-2 in the Pac-12 Conference. Arizona State improved to 7-11 overall and 3-7 in the conference.
Four of Washington's six shots were taken in the second half, but none were able to beat ASU goalkeeper Alyssa Gillmore, who recorded two saves in the shutout.
Washington will look to get back to .500 for the year when the Huskies wrap up the regular season this Thursday vs. cross-state rival Washington State. That match, which gets underway at 7:00 p.m., will air live the Fox Soccer Channel.
