Washington played great defense, holding UCLA to eight total shots, five on goal and the Huskies' goalkeeper Kari Davidson (Portland, Ore.) made four saves in the net. The Huskies took five shots, three on goal, from five different players in the game.
Possession slightly favored UCLA (12-0-2, 5-0-1) as the Bruins handed the Huskies (9-4-2, 2-3-1) their first home loss of 2012.
"I thought we were good tonight," said head coach Lesle Gallimore. "I thought we played really well for the most part. In big games you have to have big performances and we didn't get that offensively. We didn't force UCLA to make a tough save. Not to take anything away from them, they are very good but for the most part, besides the goal, I thought we limited them and Kari was forced to make only one tough save. UCLA is a really good team and we've got to figure out how we can get to that level."
The Huskies have Sunday off and will prepare to head to Cal and Stanford next weekend.
Husky legend Hope Solo will be at Husky Soccer Field on Thursday, Oct. 25 as the UW women host Oregon at 7 p.m. Solo will sign autographs from 5:45 p.m. - 6:45 p.m. on the hill inside the gates. She will be signing her new book and the bookstore will be selling her book at the game if you don't already have your copy.
