SEATTLE -- Although it's just the first week of November, already the regular season home finale is at hand for the Husky volleyball team. Washington, ranked No. 18 nationally this week, is in a position to fight for NCAA tournament hosting, but for now the Dawgs will finish the home regular season at Alaska Airlines Arena taking on Northwestern this Friday and No. 1 Nebraska on Sunday. First serve against the Wildcats on Friday is set for 7 p.m. and it will stream on Big Ten Plus. Sunday's showdown with the undefeated Huskers is sold out, and will be televised nationally on FS1 starting at 3:30 p.m.
The sold out match against Nebraska will be the second one in program history, with the previous one also featuring the Huskers just two years ago on Nov. 9, 2024. Previously, UW's attendance record was 8,646 against Stanford on Nov. 26, 2014, which was the Pac-12 record at the time. Tickets are only available via resale on SeatGeek.com.
Five matches remain in the Big Ten regular season, as UW will have three on the road following Sunday's home finale. The Huskies are 17-4 and 8-4 in conference, tied for fifth-place. With victories over Iowa and Maryland last week, UW had its first back-to-back victories since Oct. 4 and 9, and a win on Friday would be the first three-game streak since the season opening run of 11 consecutive wins. UW moved up two spots to No. 18 nationally this week, its highest ranking of the season, and No. 15 in the RPI.
In conference-only matches, UW now ranks 12th with a .231 attack percentage, but fifth in opponent attack percentage at .212. UW has climbed to the top of the aces rankings in the conference, with 1.93 per set in B1G play, and UW is also third in digs at 14.95/set.
This season, when the Huskies get one set in a match, they have gone on to win all 17 times. Their four losses have all come in sweeps. Heading into this week, the Huskies are looking to find quicker starts, as UW has lost the first set in its past five matches, but come back to win three of those, including at No. 6 Wisconsin, and both home matches last weekend.
Northwestern is winless in Big Ten play but still dangerous, as the Wildcats went five sets in each of their past two matches against Ruters and Illinois. Against Rutgers, Campbell Paris and Isabella Bullington both had 19 kills. Mara Stiglic is the kills leader for the season, averaging 3.47 for the Wildcats. Lauren Dignan leads the team with 3.64 digs per set, and Maya Stillwell is posting 0.81 blocks per set. In conference play, Northwestern is hitting .171 and allowing a .303 mark to its opponents.
