Dawgs Zoom To Victory In Arkansas DMR
February 20, 2026 | Track & Field
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Racing on the same track that will host the NCAA Indoor Championships in just three weeks, the Husky men's distance medley relay all but assured itself a spot on the starting line in the national finals, by winning the DMR today at the Arkansas Qualifier. The Huskies defeated a loaded field to run a time of 9:17.03 that ranks sixth in collegiate history and seventh in the all-conditions collegiate rankings.
Washington now owns three of the seven fastest DMR times ever run, factoring in all track sizes, as the fastest time in collegiate and world history was UW's 9:14.10 set last year in the Dempsey, however that time does not count as the official NCAA record due to the Dempsey oval being longer than 200-meters. Today's run, on Arkansas' regulation-sized track, stands as the sixth-fastest time ever run. UW also had a 9:16.65 time at Arkansas back in 2023 which remains the fifth-fastest official mark.
Thom Diamond, fresh off his 3:52 mile PR last week, led off today with a time of 2:51.09 for 1,200-meters. Alex Rhodes then had a strong 400-meter leg of 45.68 seconds, passing to Tyler Bilyard who did the 800-meter carry in 1:48.11. The Huskies were in third at that point behind Oregon and Arkansas, but Reuben Reina on the final 1,600-meter carry made up all the ground, posting the fastest split of anyone at 3:52.17 and passing his former Razorback squad in the final meters to win by less than three-tenths of a second.
To cap things off at Arkansas, the freshman duo of Owen Powell and Josiah Tostenson raced in the 800-meters. Powell was second in his heat in 1:49.14, a season-best, and Tostenson took fifth in 1:50.30.
Two Huskies are slated to race a mile on Sunday in Boston at the Saucony Battle for Boston meet. Mia Cochran and Julia David-Smith will take a shot at improving their season-bests for NCAA qualifying potential.
