Huskies Fall To Seattle U In Home Opener
February 24, 2026 | Baseball
The Huskies' bats were the most successful they've been all season, combining to plate 11 runs. Mic Paul, Casen Taggart, and Braeden Terry led the way with three hits each.
Seattle U scored in the top of the first, but the Huskies responded in both the first and second innings to tie the game at three heading into the third. Taggart launched the first home run of the season in Husky Ballpark, tagging a 419-solo shot to center field in the second inning.
Seattle U regained the lead with three in the fourth, two in the fifth, and one in the sixth. The Huskies again battled back, however, plating three in the seventh and three in the eighth to tie the game at nine.
The Redhawks had another offensive push in the ninth to take a 14-9 lead. Washington scored two more in the bottom half of the frame, but it wasn't enough to pull the Dawgs even.
Casen Taggart recorded a home run, a single, and a triple on the day, just a double away from hitting for a cycle. Mic Paul was also one hit away from a cycle after collecting a triple, double, and single in the game.
Taggart drove in three of Washington's nine runs while Mic Paul and Braeden Terry pushed two across home plate.
In his first appearance as a designated hitter, Ian Draper went 2-5 with a double and one run scored.
Jaxson Gore had the best pitching performance on the day, throwing 2.0 innings with three hits allowed, zero runs, and one strikeout.
Washington returns to action on Friday in the first of four games against San Diego State at Husky Ballpark.
