March 17, 2026 | Baseball
SEATTLE – The Huskies took the midweek matchup decisively on Tuesday, defeating Saint Martin's 13-1 in seven innings.
Washington improves to 9-11 with the win. The Dawgs have now won eight of their last 10 games.
The Huskies started hot and didn't look back. The Diamond Dawgs plated five in the second inning, punctuated by a three-run blast from Braeden Terry to deep right field.
In the third inning, the Dawgs hung another five, this time in large part thanks to a Jackson Hotchkiss grand slam. It was the first bases-loaded bomb of the season for the Huskies.
Despite starting in only eight games so far this season, Hotchkiss has four home runs, tied for the second most on the team. He's currently batting an outrageous .471 (20-74).
Washington scored three more in the fifth to bring the run total to 13 for the game.
Defensively, the Huskies pitchers were effective across the board, allowing just six hits and one run. Jay Miller made the start, giving up three hits and one run.
Jaxson Gore was credited with the win, tossing 2.2 inning with just one hit allowed against six strikeouts.
Peysen Sweeney, Tyler Walker, and Tommy Brandenburg combined to pitch the final two frames. The trio struck out four batters to secure the run-rule victory.
Alex Perason made his season debut in the victory and earned his first RBI as a Husky on a bases-loaded hit by pitch.
The Huskies are back in action this weekend in Big Ten play at USC, opening a three-game series on Friday night in Los Angeles.
