DAWG BITES
- Washington took two of three against Indiana to claim its first Big Ten series win of the season. Indiana was picked to finish fifth in the Big Ten preseason coaches poll while the Huskies were not selected in the poll which names the top six teams
- Colton Bower launched three home runs on Sunday, becoming the second Husky in history to record a three-home run game
- Bower now leads the Huskies in total HR (4), RBIs (13), and slugging (.651)
- Hayden Lewis tossed 4.1 scoreless innings in relief to earn the win on Sunday
- Carson Boesel has the lowest ERA on the team (0.77) in his 11.2 innings pitched
- Washington scored a season-high 13 runs on a season-high 17 on Sunday
- The Huskies batted .405 as a team and tallied four total home runs in the series-clinching win
- Hayden Lewis threw 7.0 innings in his start on Monday, the most of any starting pitcher this season
- Braeden Terry leads the team in batting average (.373), Colton Bower leads the team in slugging (.778), and Mic Paul leads the team in on base percentage (.456)
- Jackson Thomas paces the pitching staff with a .221 opposing batting average while Noah Kenney has the most strikeouts (24)
- Washington welcomed four new staff members to Montlake ahead of the 2026 season. Kade Kryzsko joins as an assistant coach, Justin Jacobs is the new recruiting coordinator, Scott Junck serves as the director of baseball operations, and Jake Rook is the director of baseball analytics.

SECOND SEASON UNDER SMITH
On July 9, 2024, Eddie Smith was named the 25th head coach of University of Washington baseball, announced by UW Director of Athletics Pat Chun. Smith, a native of Olympia, Washington, comes to Montlake after three seasons at Utah Valley. Smith begins his second season at the helm of the Huskies in 2026.

B1G SERIES WON
In the first Big Ten series of the season, Washington took down Indiana two games to one to earn a big series victory. Washington earned wins on Saturday and Sunday to secure the series victory, pushing the Huskies to five wins on the season.
On Saturday, Jackson Thomas pitched a season-high 7.0 innings while allowing 0 earned runs. It was Thomas' second straight quality start after throwing 6.0 innings with nine strikeouts and three runs allowed against San Diego State over the previous weekend. Daniel Porras also launched his third home run of the season and tallied three hits, his fourth multi-hit game of the season helping Washington to a 9-2 win.
The Huskies closed the series with a 13-4 thrashing of the Hoosiers, a season-high run total and a season-high 17 hits. Four of the knocks came from Colton Bower, comprised of three home runs and a triple. Hayden Lewis tossed 4.1 scoreless innings in relief to earn the win on Sunday. Carson Boesel helped close the game as well and has the lowest ERA on the team (0.77) in his 11.2 innings pitched. The Huskies batted .405 as a team and tallied four total home runs in the series-clinching win.
B1G-TIME BOWER
After a dominant week at the plate, Colton Bower has been named the Big Ten Conference's Player of the Week. He becomes Washington's first weekly honoree this season and the first since AJ Guerrero last season (April 28, 2025).
Bower's huge offensive output led the Huskies to a 3-1 record over the last week, including a series win at Indiana. On Sunday, the catcher became just the second Husky ever to record three home runs in a single game. In total, Bower compiled a 2.220 OPS, a 1.636 slugging percentage, and a .545 (6-for-11) batting average with three home runs, a triple, and seven runs batted in.
In addition to his outlandish offensive numbers, Bower also made 22 putouts behind the plate, including a perfect fielding percentage for the week.After his monstrous week, Bower now paces the team in slugging percentage (.651) and home runs (4), and extra base hits (8).
BRAEDEN TERRY BOOMING
Braeden has been on a tear for the Dawgs, currently leading all starters with a .373 batting average and 19 total hits. He has the second-best on base percentage as well at .450. Terry has tagged three triples this season, the second-most in the NCAA and is averaging one three-bagger every five games, the 14th-best clip in the nation.
Terry has been terrorizing right handed pitchers this season. He's batting 19-44 against righties this year, hitting at a .432 clip. He's also hitting .333 with runners on base.
FRESHMAN FIREPOWER
Landon Young made the most of his action over the weekend after entering Saturday's contest as a defensive replacement at third base. In the sixth inning, he bagged his first collegiate hit and RBI. He then made multiple big defensive plays at the hot corner to keep the Huskies in front. On Sunday, Young made his first career start and did not disappoint. The freshman tagged his first career home run, helping Washington to the 13-4 victory.
MULTI-HIT HUSKIES
Four Dawgs have recorded at least four multi-hit games this season, led by Braeden Terry with six. Terry and Colton Bower are the only Dawgs to record a four-hit game. Mic Paul has five multi-hit games while Ty Cowan, and Daniel Porras have four. Ian Draper, Colton Bower, and Ethan Swidler each have three.
SHUTOUT RELIEVERS
The Huskies bullpen was dominant over the last week, powering Washington to a 3-1 record. In total, the Washington pitching staff allowed an ERA of 2.31 over the last four contests, including perfect 0.00 ERAs for Jackson Thomas and Carson Boesel.
TRIPLE THREAT
The Huskies have knocked eight triples this season, the most in the Big Ten and the third-most in the NCAA. Braeden Terry leads the way with three, Sam DeCarlo has two, while Mic Paul, Colton Bower and Casen Taggart each have one. The Huskies are averaging .53 triples per game, the sixth-most in the nation.
TOUGH TY COWAN
Ty Cowan has been one of the toughest players to strike out in the Big Ten this season. He ranks ninth in the conference in the metric, averaging one strikeout every 10.0 at bats. He has only five strikeouts on the season in his 50 at bats.
DAWG DEBUTS
17 Diamond Dawgs made their first career appearance over the first two weekends of the season. Position player debuts included Ian Draper, Ty Cowan, Aidan Dougherty, Drew Johnson, Mic Paul, Daniel Porras, Kevin Spear, Ethan Swidler, and Landon Young. Pitching debuts include Carson Boesel, Bryce Johnson, Noah Kenney, Hayden Lewis, Liam Lierman, Jay Miller, Jack Wade, and Tyler Walker.
FRESH FACES
Washington features a new-look team in 2026, including 23 newcomers, 16 of whom are transfer players. The Huskies return 13 letterwinners from a season ago, including nine position player starters.
FOUR NEW STAFF MEMBERS
The Huskies welcome four new members to the Diamond Dawg staff. Kade Kryzsko has joined as an assistant coach, Justin Jacobs is the team's new recruiting coordinator, Scott Junck is the Director of Baseball Operations, and Jake Rook is the director of baseball analytics.
THREE DAWGS NAMED CONFERENCE PLAYERS TO WATCH
Hayden Lewis, Casen Taggart, and Jackson Thomas have each been named Big Ten Players to Watch, the conference announced on Wednesday.
Hayden Lewis, the newest of the three Huskies, joins Washington after two seasons and 22 appearances with New Mexico State. The senior right-handed pitcher tossed a career-high 28.2 innings last season in seven starts. He struck out 25 batters while allowing a .312 batting average.
Casen Taggart figures to again be a focal part of the Husky offense after leading the the team in batting average (.331), on base percentage (.471), and walks (46). The senior firstbaseman started in 50 games a season ago and had the longest reached-base streak on the team, totaling 31 straight games. His 0.92 walks per game had him ranked No. 33 in the nation, and he also launched six home runs, 11 doubles, and drove in 32 runs.
Jackson Thomas looks to be a key returning pitcher for the Diamond Dawgs after a strong debut on Montlake last season. Thomas threw 71.2 innings last season while making 15 appearances and 13 starts. He became the Huskies' Saturday starter and collected a 5-4 record while holding teams to a .276 average and 48 strikeouts. He tossed a career-best seven frames at Nebraska (March 8), allowing just four hits and two runs. In his 13 starts, Thomas allowed two or less runs on eight occasions.
BIG TEN PRESEASON POLL
Despite Washington's rise from 17th place in last season's poll to a fifth place finish, the Huskies have been left out of this season's Big Ten Preseason Poll. This year, the conference announced the voted top-six finishing programs.

PRESEASON PLAYER RANKINGS
Sam DeCarlo, Casen Taggart, and Jackson Thomas were each named in the D1Baseball Preseason Player Rankings.
DeCarlo was named a top-50 shortstop, Taggart was tabbed a top-50 first baseman, and Thomas was named a top-200 starting pitcher.
