IRVINE, Calif. – Washington put together a late rally but came up short on Saturday, dropping game two to USC 9-4 as the Trojans secured the series at OC Great Park.

Calvin Kirchoff received the loss, surrendering three runs over 2.1 innings.

An RBI single and a bases-clearing triple in the second put the Trojans ahead 3-0 early.

Washington responded with two runs in the third, scoring a pair on an error and a passed ball to draw the USC lead down to a single run.

However, the momentum was short lived as the Trojans added a run in the fourth and plated four in the seventh to seize control at 8-2.

USC tacked on a run with a solo shot in the eighth, and while the Dawgs pulled three runs back in the ninth, it wasn't enough as the Trojans clinched the series.

The Huskies will look to salvage a win on Sunday, rounding out the series with the Trojans at 1 p.m. CT at OC Great Park. The game will be available for streaming through USC Live Stream.
