
UW Travels To Littlewood Classic

SEATTLE – No. 25 Washington softball returns to action at the Littlewood Classic on Friday. UW will face Utah Valley, Grand Canyon, Weber State, Arizona State and North Dakota over three days.
This is a co-hosted tournament between Grand Canyon and Arizona State. The Huskies will play both of Friday's games at GCU Softball Stadium while the remaining three contests will be at ASU's Farrington Stadium.
A pair of games will be broadcasted on ESPN+ - Grand Canyon and Arizona State. The three remaining games will not be streamed. Live stats for all games will be through HuskyStats.com.

Washington began the 2025 campaign at the Candrea Classic hosted by Arizona. The Huskies played four of five games against ranked opponents – No. 11 Alabama and No. 16 Arizona. Alexis DeBoer led the offense during opening weekend, batting .313 with a double, three home runs and six RBI. Morgan Reimer posted her first career win in the circle against Western Michigan. Over the weekend, she held a 1.71 ERA over 16.1 innings with 11 strikeouts.
A NEW ERA FOR WASHINGTON
The 2024-25 athletic year marks the inaugural season in the Big Ten Conference for Washington Athletics. On Aug. 2, 2024, the Huskies became official members of the Big Ten along with UCLA, USC and Oregon.
RANKING ROUNDUP
The Huskies remain in the NFCA Top 25 poll after the first week of the season, coming in at No. 25. It marks 249 consecutive polls UW has been ranked in. The last time Washington was not in the Top 25 was the final poll of the 2008 season.
DEBUT MOMENTS
During the first week of the season, 13 Huskies made their debut in the Purple and Gold. Ten saw time in game one against Alabama - Alexis DeBoer, Charity Sevaaetasi, Alycia Flores, Riley Peschek, Gabi Toney, Addie Craig, Morgan Reimer, Ava Carroll, Tia Durst, Rylee Rehbein and Sophi Mazzola. Three more saw time in the second game of the day against Arizona - Jade Bubke, Stevie Hansen and Sophia Ramuno.
OPENING WEEKEND SUCCESS
Dating back to 2014, the Huskies are 50-8 during opening weekend. In 2023, the Huskies went 4-1 at the Mark Campbell Invitational with the lone loss coming against Oklahoma. In 2024, UW went 3-1 at the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge with the lone also coming against the Sooners in extra innings. Prior to that, Washington went undefeated the previous three seasons over opening weekend.
DAWGS WORLDWIDE
This summer, freshman Morgan Reimer played for the Canadian Junior National Team at the U-18 Softball World Cup Group Stage, helping the team qualify for the 2025 World Cup. During the event, Reimer posted a 0.00 ERA with a 2-0 record over 14.2 innings. She struck out 29 batters and threw a perfect game against Australia. Additional this past summer, head coach Heather Tarr and former Husky Sis Bates led Team USA to a silver medal at the WBSC World Cup Finals. Taran Alvelo joined Team Puerto Rico for the World Cup. Baylee Klingler represented Team USA in the Japan All-Star Series. Representing Team Mexico this summer were Lindsay Lopez and Jillian Celis at the Canada Cup.
TOUGH SCHEDULE
Washington has a tough schedule ahead with eight teams ranked on receiving votes in the preseason NFCA poll. The Huskies opened the season with four of their first five games against a ranked team in No. 11 Alabama and No. 16 Arizona. The Week 1 NFCA poll sees five opponents in the poll in No. 4 UCLA, No. 14 Alabama, No. 15 Arizona, No. 18 Nebraska and No. 21 Oregon. Additionally, Cal, BYU and Grand Canyon are receiving votes.
ROAD DAWGS
The Huskies will open the first five weeks of the season in the road beginning at the Candrea Classic (Feb. 7-9). Washington will then head back down to The Grand Canyon State for the Littlewood Classic (Feb. 14-16). The Dawgs will continue their road swing with a 12-day trip beginning at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic (Feb. 20-23) then traveling to Northridge for the first mid-week contest of the season versus CSUN on Feb. 24. UW will then head over to Hawaii for the OUTRIGGER Invitational (Feb. 26- March 1). The final tournament of the season will come at the Black and Orange Classic in Pocatello, Idaho (March 8-10). In total the Dawgs will travel almost 11,200 miles over the first five weeks. Washington will make their first appearance at Husky Softball Stadium for the Big Ten opener against Oregon, March 14-16.
NOTES ON COACH TARR
The all-time winningest coach in Washington Athletics history, Heather Tarr eclipsed 800 career wins last season. Her career .722 winning percentage ranks 11th among active Division I softball head coaches. Her 822 wins are 24th most among active coaches. Sapp holds a majority of the innings with a 2-1 record over 20 innings thrown.

Washington is 8-0 all-time versus Utah Valley. The Huskies and the Wolverines have met in each of the last four seasons with UW outscoring UVU 39-5. Five meetings have ended in run-rule victories for the Huskies.

Grand Canyon enters the weekend with an overall record of 5-1. They are receiving votes in the NFCA Week 1 poll. Savannah Kirk leads the team with a .650 average with a .700 slugging percentage. She is 7-for-7 in stolen bases. Lovey Kepa'a and Makaiya Gomez have tallied six RBI. As a team, GCU posts a 2.08 ERA with Taryn Batterton leading the way in the circle. She holds a 0.00 ERA over a 2-0 record in 11.2 innings with 12 strikeouts to two walks. Batterton was named WAC Pitcher of the Week as she threw a no-hitter against Colgate.

Weber State enters the weekend with a record of 3-2. Riley Whalen leads the team at the plate with a .438 average with a home run and six RBI. Gianna Memoli and Eva Richardson have added eight and seven RBI, respectively. In the circle, Jayci Finch leads the team with a 2.17 ERA in three appearances.

Arizona State enters the Littlewood Classic with an overall record of 3-1. The Sun Devils picked up a win over No. 21 Cal last weekend to close out the Kajikawa Classic. Kelsey Hall leads the team with a .545 batting average with a double, home run and five RBI. She's drawn four walks. AJ Murphy and Tanya Windle had added two home runs and five RBI each. In the circle, the Sun Devils are led by Kenzie Brown with a 0.66 record over 10.2 innings of work. She has struck out 19 and given up no walks.
ALL-TIME VS. ARIZONA STATE
Washington is 67-35 all-time against its former conference rival. The Huskies hold the advantage against the Sun Devils in Tempe with a 30-16 record.

North Dakota is 3-2 on the season entering the Littlewood Classic. Katelyn Neumayer leads the team with a .471 average with four RBI. Four others have tallied multi-RBI in Callie Honig (4), Angie Dumlao (4), Brooklyn Morris (3) and Taya Hopfauf (3). Two pitchers have sub-1.50 ERAs in Camryn Lasota (0.95) and Makaela Carr (1.40). Carr worked a majority of the innings during opening weekend with a 1-1 record in 15 innings with 17 strikeouts.
