Β
The Diamond Dawgs move to 24-21 and 13-8 in Big Ten play while Northwestern improves to XX and XX in the conference.
Β
Washington's bats weren't as hot as the previous two days, scoring four runs after bagging 19 and 14 in the earlier contests. Over the weekend, Washington outscored the Wildcats 37-18.
Β
AJ Guerrero has stayed hot, however. The senior ripped his fourth home of the last four games, giving him eight on the season.
Β
It was also the 41st of his career, moving him into a tie for third all-time in Husky history. He needs only one more to tie the program record of 42, which is shared by Kyle Conley (2006-09) and Ed Erickson (1997-00).
Β
Guerrero also drove in two other runs, making him responsible for three of Washington's four on the day.
Β
The Huskies recorded eight hits on the day, with both AJ Guerrero and Braeden Terry recording multiple knocks. Casen Taggart andΒ Terry each extended their reached base streaks to 19.
Β
Justin Tims earned the start for the Huskies, pitching the opening 2.2 innings, allowing four hits and four runs with a walk and a strikeout. Josh Emanuels also pitched 2.2 innings, giving up one run on two hits while fanning three batters.
Β
Isaac Yeager and Gunnar Nichols closed out the remainder of the game, with Yeager tossing one inning and Nichols 1.2 innings.
Β
The Huskies return to action on Monday against UIC for the final game of the four-game road trip.
